Parking

Does anybody else have insufficient parking for the vans in their yard? We've not got enough spaces as it is but right now we've got builders in taking up so many spaces, AND we have to leave 5 spaces free so the lorry has room to move, leaving us to have to basically strew the vans in any little nook and cranny we can find in the yard. It's always been bad but today for some reason it just really got on my tits.

Think that's annoying try our office 200+ singleton duties and approx 75 vans (not fully CDV yet) in a yard that can only take about 20 vans. Drivers have to park on the street outside and at an overflow car park about 1 mile away.

We have more vans than parking spaces. Some take vans home on overnight retention but that doesn't help in the morning when everyone arrives for work and bring the vans back. Also doesn't help when you get line managers and PHG's parking their private vehicles in the yard (I would say at least 5 private vehicles in the yard every morning). Not normally a problem for me personally because I'm not normally one of the first ones out on delivery in the morning but you do get days when you have to move another van or 2 to get yours out because yours is blocked in. Also occasions when it's awkward to load your van up because another is parked right behind it and you can't fully open the rear doors.

Yeah our office is the same. RM rent a few spaces at a car park next door and some go home on overnight retention. Still crazy as first thing though!!

Mine doesn't seem so bad now! We get bollocked if we block vans in so that's not an option. There are 6 spaces on the loading bay, but the collection drivers throw a hissy fit if they're all taken up in the afternoon so that's usually a no go. There are spaces at the back of the building that are as tight as a nun and a bastard to get into at the best of times that are mostly taken up by building equipment at the minute so that's not an option right now. There's a lot of space in front of our on site RM workshop, but the mechanics get pissy with you if you park in front of their (seldom used) doors so that's not really an option either. I had to park on our wash bay today but there were still a few vans to return so god knows where they parked.
