Guy should go off with stress and not do it again and let this be a lesson to all don't do stuff to get the managers bonuses as they will s**t on you from a great height, So let the bastard wriggle for a month or two by going on the sick and put it down to stress induced targets.sharktc wrote:Hi,

if the item has been sent as tracked, then the safe place instruction box is not hand written, the software provided to the company that is sending the item by royal mail prints the safe place instruction on the item, that same software also forwards that safe place instruction to royal mail, remember that only companys who send a very large volume of mail use tracked, so a hand written instruction on one of those is very unlikely.sharktc wrote:Hi,

if he has admitted he left it, there is not really any grounds to appeal, he has not followed the security instructions that we all must follow, and for this type of thing a 2 year serious is not really an excessive penalty, regardless of what pressures people are under they should not be doing things like this and to be honest if managers are putting pressure to improve figures then the rep has to carry the can on this as well as he should have been putting a stop to the pressure before it got to this stage

I'll be blunt. Its an appeal that he has little to no chance of winning.
He may succeed with a B&H complaint against the manager, or even a grievance about how the pressure is applied but he'll need to keep a diary etc.
On the 2 year serious, he has very little chance of winning an appeal because of the systems in place that tell us not to Doorstep, or use unofficial safe drops. Remember every year we have to sign a "Security of the Mail" certificate during at WTLL.
The best thing he can do now is do everything by the book. With a 2 year serious, hanging over him anything they catch him on could end up with a dismissal. As long as he follows procedure and does everything by the book, he will be relatively safe. Better to get an ear bashing from the Manager for doing the job right, than risk the obvious trying to do favours for him or anyone else.
