heard a rumour on fairly good authority the pay offer is a whole 0.3 per cent !!!!

Its gone down - it was 0.37%

The problem is that the pay offer is currently a closed offer and therefore it is protocol to not to reveal it. Clearly the 0.37 # was leaked , there has been another closed offer which is not much better and there was meant to be an open offer by the Business which can be communicated.

This open offer has not yet been made due to a number of reasons including that sadly Terry Pullinger lead negotiator DGSP suffered an heart attack on his return from annual conference , 2 that of com is expected to announce its report into Royal Mail's efficiency and is expected to be critical and obviously increasing the wage bill prior to the Of Com announcement is not going to happen , 3 That the CMA are in dispute and if Royal Mail offer us more than they have offered Royal Mail managers will be a red rag to a bull and lastly the pay deal requires a lot of commitments on the future negotiations such as Royal Mail one wave strategy etc.

The reality is the best pay deals we have achieved are normally weeks if not months after the due pay deal. This is not going to be a quick deal for all the above reasons.

Why do think it was leaked ! Who do you think leaked it ? The CWU have rejected the insult of an offer.

Stop the moaning and get organising ! This is going to get livily. I know the place I represent will deliver !

I really do get pissed off at the constant backbiting without some really looking at the bigger picture.

1. This years pay deal was always going to be difficult as we want a no strings pay deal and parking what Royal Mail want till further talks

2. Of Com are going to flex their muscles when they publish their report on Royal Mail's efficiency. Hence why the two closed offers have not increased the current wage bill just simply rejuggled the existing wage bill.

3. The Royal Mail mangers who's pay claim was that they wanted what we got last April has led to them securing two yes votes for Industrail action , Royal Mail are not going to offer us more than them at this stage.

4. Whether we like it or not Royal Mail are now a privatised company and pay is a big issue ahead of their financial report and we already know that several shareholders were unhappy with the 3 year pay deal under the Agenda for Growth along with legal guarantees !

No one is trying to stitch anyone up I can assure you of that but the politics and dynamics of these pay negotiations are complex.

Dingo, what I don't totally understand is why RM have to take any notice to what ofcom have to say, I don't see ofcom complaining about efficiency within BT, Whistle, UKmail etc. I also don't like that ofcom are listening and taking into consideration complaints about are wages, especially as we are now a private company, I thought upwards aspiration was the in thing - people improving their lot from working hard and getting paid a decent wage.

I'd expect a ballot on what we've managed to glean from what you've posted so far, because it looks as though unless you've started in the last few years, if grandfathered rights are done way with most of us are going to be worse off, I've already experienced this when payment of D2D was removed.

Even as an ex rep I'd have to think hard if this was to happen, whether it was really worth paying my subs for a pay cut and with RM blatantly ignoring national agreements .
