Bag on shoulder

Can anyone enlighten me on the guideline for this. Have a delivery coming up this week, with a large amount of flats so can't use the trolley. Manager says 11 kilos but thought that had been reduced to around 5 or 6 kilo.

your right hes trying it on its 6kg and it has to be built into your duty plan otherwise its a lwt ,

It's 5kg though that's a maximum so if you wanted could be lower, depends on how many flats and flights of stairs you have, though should of been designed into walk.

As far as I know it should have been risk assessed on the revision because depending on how steep or how many steps it affects how much weight you can carry on the shoulder. Plus bags are meant to go down in weight from the first to last bag which should also have been assessed during a revision. We have bag weights for a reason it's a health and safety issue and something none of us should ignore because if you have a back,foot or any joint problem the first thing they will ask is do you use trolleys weigh bags and take breaks.

If you have to keep climbing stairs then you need to keep it light but if it just walking down the stairs after using the lift it should be easier to do little more. It is your chose to carry whatever kilograms as long it is not too heavy so you need to use common sense.

The below is from the Fishmeister, so you know it's gospel...

You're only allowed to carry bags that weigh less than 8kilo...if the duty has specifically been planned to use 8kilo bags due to either terrain issues or delivering to flats.
You are not allowed to simply take a duty designed for use with the LWT and replace the trolleys with bags...no matter what weight you put in them.

It is in official documents but can't find them at the mo.
Also it's 5kg on stairs! EDIT:Which has been mentioned.
