Home van retention

Hi all. I heard today home van retention is going to stop nationally, not sure when, has anyone else heard this. Have to say doesn't surprise me at all.

I will be surprised if that is the case, the only reason they allow you to take vans home is because they have nowhere to park them overnight, not to do you a favour. Personally, I would rather not take a van home. Not my problem if they have nowhere to park them they wanted them.

and this will mean more parking needed for vans and employee's cars at car park. So it create more problems.

A smaller local office is being absorbed into our office in the coming months and word on the street is some vans will have to be parked in a public car park...

That's not bad, £1 per day. Some of our vans do a 40+ mile round trip home every day

This has always been a thing, the only reason to let people take home is because there is no space/not safe at the office.

Personally I'm more worried about damage etc rather than what it's costing RM. It's just off the high street with lots of pubs on it. I'm sure there will be a few drunkards on Friday/Saturday nights who just can't resist messing about with a bunch of bright red vans..

Someone did mention this in our office yesterday. No idea where they got the information or even if it's true but they said it was something to do with the tax implications.

The cheapest I've seen railway station parking is £2 a day

Happened ages ago in our office only one nearby office still takes the van home as they're walks are heavier lol

Our manager stated to us about 6-8 weeks ago that all vans where to be left at the delivery office over night until they realised that 36 vans don't fit into 22 spaces and more or less begged staff to take them home.
