What's the correct procedure for resourcing when Mgv duties become available/vacant within the workplace?

This link will take you to the Way Forward Agreement 2000 and in particular sections 15/16 on resourcing specialist posts which MGV duties are classed.

Thanks for that, just as we thought tbh.

Who would I contact at CWU HQ?

The scenario is 6-7 full time MGV duties will be advertised within the next few weeks, the problem is our current reps are in the process of trying to secure a new local agreement without balloting the membership. The proposed agreement for resourcing MGV vacancies will be based on seniority, basically opening the door to collection drivers to pick these duties.

But within our unit we have a 9 year p/t MGV driver wanting full time, how do they stand, and do they have a strong case to be made up to full time?

Your contact at CWU HQ is Ray Ellis department.
Resourcing duties within RM has in most instances been based on seniority with exception to posts where in other circumstances the placing of employees are based on their allowances and the length of time that allowance has been held with particular reference to MTSF where surplus employees have occurred.
In relation to MGV duties they would come under the Professional Drivers Agreement 2007 and would be advertised under the criteria for selection such as type of license held, penalty points on current licence, drivers tachograph card, driver qualification card ( having completed 5 modules of CPC), attendance record. So the advertisement if containing all these requirements then could limit the amount of applicants but would expect RM to utilise holders of these first to limit the amount to spend on training.
Reps could take the stance that as they have been voted in to their position on a ballot then their is no obligation for a ballot on a local agreement but personally I would expect reps to notify the membership of what is to be introduced within the local agreement and receive a mandate for the introduction of the content.
