Forced overtime??

I have found this overtime obligation in my contract can any shed any light on it cheers

Royal mail has the responsibility of providing a public service. This puts a special obligation on all employees to play their part in maintaining the kind of service that the public has the right to expect. The nature of the service makes a measure of overtime working necessary. For this reason it is a comdition of your employment that you are liable to work overtime and to attend at varying times on any day (including weekends,bank holidays ) as the needs of the service demand. Forced overtime surely means RM need to comply with the EU ruling about giving average overtime from last 12 weeks for the first four holiday weeks taken each year?

So how do you get average holiday pay. I work extra 5-7 hours per week and my wage slip is always "basic" pay only. It annoys me greatly. Ive asked for contract increase to no avail. Delivery supplement would also increase with contract.

Its also the full quote for 30 minutes flexing there is nothing much else of any importance. Its also not function specific so the agreement as far as I am aware is applicable to everyone in Letters.

If you are working extra hrs, your hourly rate will be at SSPR which is enhanced to cover the delivery supplement.
Check your payslip.
This will not be the case when on A/L though as you will only get contracted hours.

Royal Mail are always trying to cut back on overtime


So if someone works past their time and does half an hour overtime on Wednesday but finishes 10 minutes early on a Thursday; does the overtime pay get deducted accordingly?

Now where is that agreement for the banking of hours???

We get threatened with swings and roundabouts if we dont go past our time , and our union agrees with them . If you dont agree to this you can sit in canteen every day till up to your meal relief.
