Compo Claim for Tracked

I ordered an item on Monday via a very large company who advised me that the item would be sent via tracked 24 delivery.

the Tracking goes as thus

23-APR-2016 06:29 Accepted at Outward Mail Centre Plymouth Mail Centre
22-APR-2016 23:24 Accepted at Inward Mail Centre Plymouth Mail Centre
21-APR-2016 00:32 Accepted at Inward Mail Centre Xxxxxxxxxxxx Mail Centre
20-APR-2016 07:51 Accepted at Outward Mail Centre South Midlands Mail Centre
19-APR-2016 16:45 Pre-advice Received

so my item was in the local mail centre from 00:32 on wednesday,
why did it then take almost 48 hours to then be scanned again and go to a totally different part of the country.

it should have been delivered on Thursday to my local DO where I work.

so can I claim compensation for this complete mess up by RM? as I may now get my item on Monday ( unless it gets sent somewhere else again )

If anyone can claim compensation, it is the company that tried to send you the item, they are the customer as far as RM are concerned.

I don't think compensation is payable for a late Tracked item.
Regardless it would be for the company that sent it to seek any claim as they are the sender and have paid for the service and not you directly.

I imagined it would be, just P****s me off that it was a present for the wife's birthday and now she won't get it until maybe Monday :(

How small was the item? Could it be small enough that it got stuck in that "well" at the front of a sleeve?
