Royal Mail polo shirts made from recycled material off cuts are being trialled at units across the country.

Three hundred polo shirts are being tested by postmen and women at Staveley, Stratford-upon-Avon, Crow Lane, Leicester MPU and Coventry South. They are made from 100 per cent cotton off cuts from cutting rooms in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The cotton is converted into yarn and blended with polyester made from PET plastic bottles to produce the new fabric.

Our head of corporate responsibility and community investment Jeff Oatham said the trial also demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and minimising our impact on the environment.

He said: ‘We are committed to discovering and adopting solutions that minimise our use of natural resources and safeguard our environment. The polo shirt trial is a demonstration of our commitment to make our business more sustainable.’

Probably made in sweatshops by people working 20hrs a day for a pittance pay, shame on Royal Mail for costcutting while the people at the top are raking it in

This coming from a company that deals in delivering thousands of tons of unwanted paper through every household every week

This from The company that took thousands of "Green" Bicycles off us and gave us a lot more Pollution producing Vehicles. Do these Dickheads really believe that anyone believes a word of their Corporate Bullshit?

Our Households may be unwanted but I believe that nowadays it's all from Renewable Sources, so I don't think that's a problem. They're a fact of life and we'll be delivering more of them as the years go on.......Unless People start writing letters to each other again!
