word on the grapevine = Job losses or office moves?

Not sure if this topic has been touched on or if its office specific,maybe someone has more info but i've just found out about the proposal of full time staff going from 1 in 4 saturdays to 1 in 6 saturdays which in turn can free up hours and get rid of 4 staff based on seniority. The other thing ive been told by my manager is that they have asked him to look into increasing the part time cover people's contract and getting them in over 5 days instead of 3 which leaves 4 extra staff to be moved to nearby offices, he said no jobs will be lost (do we believe him).
Anyone shed any light on this?

Thankyou i've had a read but i'm still in the dark. I am a reserve and I was chatting to a fellow reserve about the fact our manager has been told to try and sort out slightly longer hours for the PT 3 day staff and have them work 5 days which means they could lose upto 4 staff, so it does seem office specific as he phoned up an office close his home today (where he does bits of OT) and that manager told him he knew it was in the pipeline in our office but they can't just sack us because we are on a permanent and the worse case scenario would be to move us to another office.
In my eyes there is the fact not everyone can do more hours, I know 2 of the lads wont work past their PT hrs because it effects their tax credits etc.
Is it just scaremongering do you think? My brother has been in the RM for 30yrs and he used to be a manager at the mail centre and they always said they were gonna reduce the management but they never did.

your changes are office specific - but they are the very start of massive changes to how everyone will be doing the job within 5 years.

The good news is that the

no member of staff will be forced to buy down their hours/go part-time and no
part-time employees will be forced to increase their contractual hours

However if you stick to your guns and they can't find a job/duty at your office then they may try to transfer you. Get local guidance from your ADR.

Of course none of the knobs at the top, think to get rid of half the managers, what a money saving that would be.

If they the ROYAL MAIL can go against the spirit of the last agreement why cannot we all go against their plans as well.
