The PDA pilot has now been extended to cover 12 delivery and collections units. The units have been chosen to ensure we get data from all types of office. They represent rural and urban areas, large and small offices, including SPDOs, and different geographies.

Soon, we will begin deployment across the business. This will take several months and will be carried out on a unit-by-unit basis.

As a result of the pilot so far, we have made a number of improvements to the PDA. It includes making the device easier to use in wet weather, adding a scan button to the left hand side of the PDA, and making the screen rotate when it’s handed to customers.

Benefits of the new PDAs:

Lighter and more durable
Ready for all-day use
Quicker and more responsive
Up to 10 hours battery life (plus one extra battery per PDA)
Can be updated quickly
Bigger display screen for easier signature capture.

Your manager will be told when your office will start to receive the new device. In the meantime, it’s important to continue to look after your existing PDA.

Our manager was laughing the other day saying they are great because they will be able to track you and see how fast you are going etc! W@nker

they can do that anyway plus with the tracker things in the van there's no escaping big brothers ever watchful gaze

Yes the PDA's will out last all the staff in the future of this business may god save us all.

Hi I am using one of the new PDA's now......

and very good there are too

....... just stay 'logged in' ..... so when the screen goes from collection manifest to blank screen saver tap it and log back in straight away

if you dont and the PDA goes into deep sleep mode you'll need a good EE 'phone signal and about 50 secs to log back in

there are loads of handy sub menus to it so if on collections you can scan in the bar codes on the paper work for PPI stuff

I know I sound a bit of a Knob but when you get it and stroke it you will like it

If they stayed in the office past 11am they could work that out for themselves
