Tomorrow you will receive a letter from the business supposedly outlining the business position with regards to the on going issues in Cupar and urging members to vote no.

I've read it, it's full of words but no substance and the best thing you could do with it is return it marked refused. The business will be using the hard sell to undermine the union's position, I've already heard stories of management informing staff that the postie in question has cashed the cheque and spent the money that isn't true, there seems to be no limit to how low these people will stoop. If anybody feels they are being unduly pressured or even threatened to vote no by management report it to your rep immediately.

It does seem a bit one sided to let the business send out a mass letter giving their views, to encourage people to vote "no". Will the CWU be allowed to send out a mass letter as well, to give their view?

as for the stories/rumours over Dave Mitchell, the DOM says he was at a meeting in Birmingham a few weeks back, and the gaffers there were telling them the supposed facts of the case and RM were right to sack him in his view. just shows you how low they will go to get a win.

I was very pleased to show my support for local postman Dave Mitchell and his family, friends, colleagues and supporters at the silent protest held in Cupar on Saturday. Dave was a loyal employee who was unfairly dismissed by Royal Mail and deserves to be reinstated. I will continue to do what I can to support him.

I would hardly say that this two page letter has given me the "full facts."

Was Mr Mitchell's frame protected by a forcefield that prevented any other person removing those test letters letters, before Mr Mitchell tied up the duty and went to deliver it?

reading that letter, they seem adamant he will not be re-instated. I hope he is. its an absolute travesty if RM are allowed to get away with this. they state that ''it is certainly still possible that Mr Mitchell was guilty''. this being their view, then surely the view should be taken that ''it is certainly still possible that Mr Mitchell is innocent''. they are clutching at straws.

There are no ifs or buts from the side of a trade unionist.
An injury to one is an injury to all.
If you can't understand that basic premise then I'm not sure why you would be a trade union member..

He was sacked.
The tribunal said it was unfair.
Royal Mail have ignored the tribunal.
These are the facts of the case, nothing else should matter.

Royal Mail has sent out its propaganda to the Branch 2 posties being balloted. I have managed to read a copy.
RM state there was a full and comprehensive investigation.
The judge said "the investigation fell very far short of that which a reasonable employer would have carried out."
Spot the difference.
The judge also reported there were inconsistencies in the reporting of the test mail and that the investigation was deficient.
The ballot will shape the future for everyone not just Dave.

If this had been a criminal investigation by the police then the manager would have also been
investigated since he was, allegedly, the last person to hold these test letters and yet RM ignore this.

There is insufficient evidence to prove David Mitchell was guilty and therefore he must be treated as innocent and given his job back.
