Evening All.
tomorrow, finally my Dom and myself are going to sit down and go through the table top revision for our DO.
everything has been arranged by myself and a few senior posties, nothing much changes, just a few tweaks here and there from the last one ( 2.5 years ago ) which was totally wrong and it has taken this long to get a tabletop agreed by the DSM.
the Dom wants to bring in designated part time walks! the sign for never happened after the last revision ( it sort of did but the paperwork went missing!!
I am totally against this as are 95% of our DO.
if the Dom tries to bring this in, can I disagree with him and get it stopped for the good of the entire workforce?
some have put in 12 years of hard graft without having their own walk only for new starters ( PT ) to be able to pick up a walk and sign for it.
no way can this be fair, I have no problem with part time workers, but they need to learn the job the same way we all did, from the bottom and being a reserve / rest day cover if lucky.
any help with this would be great so I can fire something at the Dom tomorrow morning.

Hi
None of us posties like the idea of full time walks going to part time,but i suppose if your DOM can provide you with evidence that your over rescourced with the indoor element then its all down to efficiencey and thats what the big drive is nowadays with privitisation.

Why are you doing a table top revision? have you not had your revisions in your office from the last agreement?
basically why are you doing a revision what is the reason that it has come about?

the reason we need to do a tabletop?
our last revision was a complete balls up by the planner, we had no rep at the time so the Planner and an out of office Dom sorted it.
it has taken this long to get the DSM to allow a tabletop to iron out the problems.
the TTR will sort it out so that walks are more equal rather than some being stupidly long and some far too short.
around 8 walks will be revised a little out of 21.
staff wise, we still have 3 vacancies and are currently running with more PT staff than we should have, although 2 have been told that they will be made up ( but how long is a piece of string )
it will make no difference to whatever walks the PT posties do as even now we prep 5 walks in the morning meaning that some days we only have 5 people on IPS ( with 3 on packets, 1 on BR, 1 extra in the locker helping with specials, 5 pt walks being prepped, 2 absorption walks being prepped, tracked being scanned into office and sorted out )

in that case you then have the nuclear option, this revision is not tied to any deals or agreements and is completely voluntary on the part of the office, you can quite simply refuse any part and say you are going to disagreement over it, then follow through the ir process
just a point to note, you are doing this revision now, that is a slightly bad idea, as you may find yourself doing another revision in a few months time after the outcome of the current pay talks, ie longer delivery spans etc
