Ok then are the union /rm going to use common sense between them, regarding the possibility of a 35 hour week.it is a no brainer to get this one wave of mail early as possible to your delivery office 06.00 hours, all sorted everyone out of the office at a reasonable time and finished at a reasonable time,i stress this as customers DO NOT want there mail at silly o clock eg 17.00 .most offices have OT on offer mine included,if you are out on delivery earlier and finishing earlier more staff would be willing to do a bit of extra OT when asked,if your out later on delivery and finishing later the last thing you want is to do extra,I honestly feel like banging the heads together of the cwu and royal mail sometimes.i mentioned this to my dom the other week about earlier out and earlier back issue with the one wave coming in,and that more staff would be willing to do a bit extra if they were back to the office at a reasonable time, and he fully agreed with me,so come on let common sense prevail.

With mail centres accepting later packets, then it is obvious that mail times to DOs will be delayed.
Sequencing of more mail will delay mail into DOs.
If one of your "customers" leaves the house at 8am and returns at 6pm then they don't even know if the mail is delivered at 10am or 4pm.
If they need their mail earlier they can collect it from the DO, but as it is only junk mail and bills it is hard to see why they would bother.
Squeal all you like but the mail isn't going to arrive any earlier.

Have to agree, people always asking me, any packets postie? Never had anyone asking for advertising, bills or D2D, they pretty much couldn't care less if it comes or not. I can see evening and sunday deliveries being the norm, maybe not us established staff but new entrants on new contracts. So as we die, that will be the norm.

We are a privatised company now so everything that is changed now is all about money saving, they are not interested in making staff happy at all now ,infact the worse they treat you and the sh..ter the job gets making people leave is all part of a bigger picture , whats needed now is for us all to start and finish on time using the correct tools to do our job checking walk logs, checking vans over, using stickers on docket left items , taking our breaks, and helping to back the union to make it strong again, there is going to be a big fight for terms and conditions soon and its going to be a hard fight so lets start working as a team and not stabbing one another in the backs, Rant over

One wave won't work.
We have 6 CSS machines and struggle to get the mail out in time and have enough space on the 9.5 tonne trucks for the first wave let alone join the two waves together. Not to mention the amount of drivers who have been lost.

06:00 for all sequencing to be done?
No chance, iLSMs/IMPs might well still be running inward plans past 05:00, for one wave they'd have to finish the inward plans first (and some batches would be too big - 32 boxes is about the absolute maximum doable on a CSS

Why have one lino per postcode sector, they do very little and are just a waste of shareholders cash, mine has trouble picking up a dropped packet, a bit of lapse delivering puts them on sick!!

Despite the huge amount of money that could be saved by ejecting a large percentage of those shirt wearing shirkers, it seems as if their jobs are ring fenced, as senior management think that they are the ones who keep things ticking over at the money making end of the business.HarryPoorer wrote:Why have one lino per postcode sector, they do very little and are just a waste of shareholders cash, mine has trouble picking up a dropped packet, a bit of lapse delivering puts them on sick!!

I expect most depots will move to a contract start time of 0800 or later, when this "one wave" that has been talked about for over a year, finally kicks in.

they are talking about 17 ton trucks, mail processing in mail centres starting 4 or 5 hours later and amalgamating 3 offices into 1 because the mail will be sequenced (including flats) the Dutch, French and Germans have been doing this for nearly 2 decades ... we've been told that the town office next to ours is projected at getting it's mail 100% sequenced and delivered to the D/O by noon ... currently the 2nd wave is around 7.30 am .... it won't happen over night it would probably take 3 - 5 years to implement the changes Royal Mail would like to make .... I expect loads of EVRs on offer during that period .... sadly I can see the business going part time for delivery postiesCreditshampoo wrote:One wave won't work.
