Under what circumstances can pay be STOPPED ? Are there any guidelines on this ?

There are lots of different reasons, all depends on the circumstances, what's been threatened and why?

Abandonment of Duty
Failure to Maintain contact when sick
Resignation
Reaching the Sick Pay Thresholds.
Dismissal.
Suspension without Pay

They should give a reason - have they?. This will help point you in the right direction for guidance/agreements.

postie in the unit failed to contact on 1st morning of going sick, letter hand delivered to his address same morning with pay being stopped, needless to say he went in the following morning to state in person he was unable to phone but was now going sick and off he went.

yes but was reinstated immediately when rep challenged it
