Once you are on sick leave, at what point do ATOS get involved?

Cheers

Once you have given your permission to your dom to refer you to them, depending on the nature of sick leave it could be day 1 or day 60

Cheers for the reply.

So if a line manager (NOT the DOM) suggests referring me to ATOS after only 1 day into a sick absence, due to a foot injury, then he couldn't simply go ahead and contact ATOS without my consent?

Not unless it's a recurring injury as far as i'm aware. However they tried similar with someone in my office after 1 day off and when he said he didn't think it necessary as was already attending his own doctor (mental breakdown!), he was phoned later that day to be told HR were going to stop his pay and in the doms words he wasn't "complying".

doesn't matter if dom or line manager neither can refer you to oh assist without your consent regardless of how long you are off

if you give consent either can refer you on day 1 if you allow

What happens if managers blatantly ignore what Atos recommends in relation to what someone can and can't do?
I know one postie who's office is in the process of a repick and he's been informed by Atos that due to his condition/disability certain types of duties are off bounds, but his gaffer is largely ignoring these recommendations and insisting on this postie working on
whatever duty becomes available.
This can't be right?

Flag the s**t out of it, that is why the union is there.Rep-Area-Div-Outdoor dept.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Although it is possible that the Manager wants to "make reasonable adjustments" to the duty that becomes available. This is ok and within the rules, but postmans guidance is still valid he needs someone to fight his corner and thats what the CWU is for.
