My feelings

Let me first say this is not an attack on our union or its members. I have decided to post this as it is how I feel. Perhaps, there are people on this forum with the answers who knows. It appears so blatantly obvious to me that RM are simply cutting our pay, allowances and benefits in order to make us a cheap to run organisation, a bit like a supermarket. If we take a look at Leighton's history this is what he does best. The competition myth has been discussed in other threads, and I feel more and more everyday that this is just a convenient myth to do that very chopping. I can't believe that RM staff are still under the influence that we can't have a decent pay rise cause we can't compete. Take a look around you. we've been on strike and apparently this was the opportunity all the competition wanted. Have the stepped in and took over? No! And why?… well obviously they can't and never will. It's too big a task, only a business with a network already set in place like RM can. I still processed the competitions mail today and will have to tomorrow and RM continued to get paid for it. I've read that RM are sitting on the accounts, is there not some time span when these must be produced. How can anyone possibly know we are losing money whilst these figures are being withheld. I have full support for out union but I feel total disillusion at the present moment with them. From what I have read up to now so many loyal members are losing faith daily and that is on this forum. Surely the union must realise this, yet they continue to keep us uninformed and left to make up what we don‘t know and fear. They have completely mismanaged the strike and are continuing to do so by keeping us in the dark failing to illustrate our plight to the media and illustrate the blatant abuse of the business when it comes to our pensions and bonuses paid to management including L&C. Why are they letting RM get away with using casual employment to break a strike. Are we being completely stitched up? Is this a sign that our union leaders are as overpaid and out of touch with us as our employers? This is the only union we have and I will never discourage support for them, but more than anything else we all have to stick together. From what I am reading it seems like we are in line to fall apart. We can’t allow this to happen. Why are the union letting us get so desperate. When we are desperate we are at our most vulnerable. I have read so many threads from so many fine, intelligent level headed people on this forum. Surely all of us as a group can do something. First we are held at the ransom of our employer and now I feel like so many on here we are being held ransom by our union. I just can't believe this. surely there is something we can all do. I would also like to take this opportunity to say I am also completely miffed at posties who still insist on cutting corners instead of doing things properly. Whether it is using your car, starting early, moving two bits of equipment at once or just running around like a DANGEROUS headless chicken in order to get that job done a bit quicker for RM and show them how you can clear backlogs with ease. Do you not realise we’ve been on strike. It is your benevolence that RM is taking advantage of and expects you to keep up while cut pay and impose more hours on us.

Good post, mate. I hope the "racers and chasers" get to read it, and more importantly, take note of it.

As for us possibly being sold out, we'll know soon enough.

If anything comes from this bloody cock-up, it has to be the membership having more say in the running of the union. A bit more direct democracy rather than just vote for a bunch of people few of us have met and leave them to do what they think fit.

Yes great post mate!! But they are all polititions trying to achieve a personal gain.. We will be sold down the swanney, if they get the right price or maybe.. BRIBE!!

just remember folks we get the final say at the ballot box, remember we are the union.You don't like the deal just vote no.
