EVR cancelled

In a neighbouring office been told that 5 people who were offered EVR have had it cancelled at the last minute.
Two had got new jobs to go to.
One of them had even booked his leaving do.
Unbelieveable

we have 5 vacancies and they have just let go 3 PT staff on 6 month contracts citing poor performance after working through the wettest winter in the Lakes.No performance warnings no work place coaching absolutely ridiculous !

My EVR was cancelled. Didn't surprise me one bit as nothing RM tell you can ever be trusted!!

Terrible behaviour by RM. Due to my glass half empty outlook on life I wouldn't be celebrating until the money had been paid and transferred by me into another account.

thats because they would rather give evr to managers , 2 managers in my area have just left with eye watering pay offs .

Cant trust RM until you have signed the paperwork
even then its squeaky bum time until money is in your account

What do you call last minute? Had they received and accepted an official offer? Had they had their acceptance of that offer acknowledged by HR and a statement saying their contract had been terminated and given a last day of service?

Who as overturned the VR? RM or the union? out of interest.

There have been cases in the past in my area where people have made life changing decisions based on the expectation of VR payments to cover any outstanding debts and mortgages only to have the rug pulled from under them, that's no way to treat people and should serve as a timely reminder not to trust any agreements made until the money is actually in the bank.

in 2 to 3 years time their will be a stampede to get out of the business I will be 1 of them the way the job is going it won't be worth it we will either end up part time or crippled (HCTs) at our office we are struggling to get staff due to non recruitment and staff off with physical injuries due to Royal Mail's unsafe workloads and equipment ... I refuse to work my day off as I lost days money on strike getting the 5 day week in the 1990s and the O/T rates are no incentive either ... Royal mail could offer me £20 a hour to work my day off and I would still refuse to do it .... when I leave this job I want to leave being able to walk unaided
