1. I don't think the Del Supplement solution was the correct one, but it was the least worst of those available.
2. No one gets paid for D2Ds its absorbed into the workload.
3. Delivery Supplement is only paid to those who work in delivery (MCs get their own less generous supplement £8 at the start).
4. With 100,000 members in Delivery we effectively voted this in ourselves either by voting yes or not voting at all. Delivery are the largest section in the Union. Within RM we are the largest by 3 or 4 times. In the Union as a whole (including BT, Vodaphone and the others) deliveries are only outnumbered by a few thousand. Delivery has the biggest muscle in the Union, we just don't use that muscle enough.

As the man said, Treat them as part of the workload. If they take you over every day then claim or use the excess workload procedure and cut off. Getting stressed over bits of paper is not the way to go.

The problem I have with 6 or 7 d2d is the extra weight in the bags. I always use trolleys but with that many how are we to maintain the 16kg limit in each bag along with everything else.my question is on h&s grounds how are this many allowed.the extra work is not a problem as we all have a start and finish time

If you deliver them in columns even with 7 d2d that's at most half a bundle extra, as for h+s simply just have extra bags and even then most deliveries should be by trolleyPidleypoo wrote:The problem I have with 6 or 7 d2d is the extra weight in the bags. Try this then. Floater moved on to a duty for a day on a friday. The duty has been lapsed all week. DOM has set into the frame four lots of Door 2 Door in the frame and says it must be delivered on the day. Silly sod gets four bags of mail back to deliver himself and brings back all the Door to Door he had set in. Then he makes you deliver it again on Saturday. Part of the workload my arse! One rule for one and...thendeltaforce wrote:As the man said, Treat them as part of the workload. If they take you over every day then claim or use the excess workload procedure and cut off. Thing is we are a partnership now, working together back to the van. If the Column falls mainly on one partner it SUCKS up the whole back to the van thing.

had to chuckle yesterday when my partner put in those not taken by the cover duty, 5 lots & 20 was the size of a usual bundle, he then complains about the weight
i told him not to put any in my loops and i wasn't working over due to him spending about 45 mins prepping what he shouldn't be, he soon put a spurt on

But the biggest complaints come from those who do not use those delivery methods which the agreement covers over the payment of the supplement and should be encouraged to use such methods, Therefore lapsing would not take place and thus nor would the scope for further savings in your unit/office postmen/postwomen don't get it job and finish is over work your hour's and be glad you are not lapsing more than you should by running around!zx135 wrote:If you deliver them in columns even with 7 d2d that's at most half a bundle extra, as for h+s simply just have extra bags and even then most deliveries should be by trolleyPidleypoo wrote:The problem I have with 6 or 7 d2d is the extra weight in the bags. To add to my earlier post, I do the columns method and only 1/6th every day but with 6 or 7 d2d that still weighs more than you think. Last week I had 4 but one was heavy and even though it was 50-70 in each loop they took up half the space in the bag. So with all the other stuff in the bag they must go over the 16kg for one bag & 32kg for 2 and remember this is meant to go down in weight each bag.and with no way of weighing our bags in our office ( I've complained to managers,Dom local rep area rep and h&s rep about this) it's no wonder how so many have so many joint problems myself included.the bags have weight limits for h&s reasons and I belive long term we are all in danger of having a lot of pain if these things keep getting ignored. As I said it's only the h&s aspect of myself and colleagues that bothers me about this many d2d everything else claim or follow overrunning procedures

The solution is simple if the bags too heavy split it into two bags, if that means having to go back and forth for next bag then so be it, if manager doesn't like it tough it's a planning issue for him to deal with

Well how are your fellow workers feeling about this do they share your concerns if so if you have no rep you sound like a leader of men maybe you should get the job as to to scales it is a H/S issue why have you not got these working in your office complain to your DOM about this you would be doing them a favour as they could be in breach of H/S law if the HSE turned up.Pidleypoo wrote:To add to my earlier post, I do the columns method and only 1/6th every day but with 6 or 7 d2d that still weighs more than you think. I have complained about this at all levels up to about area rep level and they all agree but still nothing has been done. I've also said I would either assist or be a h&s rep and again nothing. As for everyone else they do agree but most people dare not rock the boat but for a few others.its a major issue and as a business and workforce we could be putting our jobs at risk long term and with longer deliveries possibly it's even more so. Also apologies for taking the original post in this direction but I do think all parts of what we do affect us all and we shouldn't compromise on our health in this way
