Washing van

Due to all the lapsing that we are now being given which takes us up to or past my finish time I am not having time to wash my van.
Is washing the outside and cleaning the inside included in my weekly hours?
Can I claim overtime for doing this job or would it be a reasonable thing to say cant do my lapsing today cause I am cleaning my van in the time instead?

Also interested to know what cleaning facilities and items any other offices get supplied?
We have a hosepipe and that's it.Is it a reasonable request that they buy us a hoover?

We have puddles to wash the mud off or a 25 mile round trip to the nearest car wash.

We have asked for a bucket and some shampoo but seemingly that's above the Doms pay grade.

If they are happy for us to drive round in vans that are filthy then fair enough.

Easy here...
During a recent WTLL session, the whole office rolled up their sleeves, cleaned every vehicle in the unit and learnt how to carry out safety vehicle checks.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Yes it should be, it should be in the duty 318 what time is allocated for this type of thing, ie van checks etc but even if it is, if manager wants you to deliver mail or anything else instead of washing the van that is his choice at the end of the day

you need to get permission for the over time prior to claiming it, so if you want the over time to wash the van you are going to need to ask your doms permission to do so, if he says no then that is his choice, as for lasping same thing, you can say that you dont have time to do it because your due to wash the van but dom is within his right to then say do the lapsing and dont wash the van

we have a power hose but no hoover, you can certainly request it, nothing unreasonable about that, but end of the day thats all it is, a request.
