attending funeral whilst on a/l

if a family member dies and the funeral has been arranged on a week which you have annual leave can u take the specific day for the funeral as paid leave instead of annual leave.

well thats stupid, if you have a close relative funeral when you are at work u get paid leave but when its on your annual leave u dont ...? but if your sick on annual leave then u get the a/l days credited back...

first off, what relative are they as you can only have paid leave for certain people, mam,dad brother,sister etc... or hopefully not your own kid, which i doubt as you're posting on here.
sorry to appear blunt, but sounds like you're just trying to profit from it,
you're already off due to booking leave off i guess before your bereavement.
just go to the funeral and take the rest of your leave as normal

You say close relative but how close if it's an Aunt, Uncle, Cousin etc then it's unlikely to be paid.

If it's a Blood relative I am unsure, I was on Annual leave when my father died, I just extended the leave with Special Leave.

have been given advice on here a few times that aunt, uncle etc do qua!ify as a days special leave does anyone know the exact terms of special leave for relatives. also had to take annual leave for aunt, uncle, nephew. My own mum passed away recently I took off all the time I needed to grieve.
