Apologies if this is in the wrong section
Managers have told staff that if a member of the public requests you to go inside the building and deliver a packet/rec/special del you must go up to the floor and deliver to the door.
1. What happens if you get attacked or bitten in the premises?
2. More importantly FIRMS ARE CHARGED £95 for a floor delivery, ROYAL MAIL can't have it both ways, either charge both or charge neither

Deliver to multi occs
this was a matter of debate not too long ago

I read this as saying you only go to the door if the item needs a signature.Delivering mail to multi-occupied addresses
If you live in or occupy business premises in a location where our delivery staff only have access to a single point where they deliver mail for multiple residences or premises within that location, this is considered to be a multi-occupied address.
Where delivery arrangements already exist where a facility is provided such as a central point for the delivery of mail or the provision of external lockable letter boxes at a building/site, these will be deemed as the delivery point for the individual addresses. In such circumstances, Royal Mail will not perform deliveries to individual residences or business premises, if requested by individual customers, even if the delivery standard criteria below are met.
If you have an item that needs to be signed for this will be delivered to the door to obtain the signature rather than left at the central point.

If you are attacked or bitten in the premises it's the exact same as if it was on a public street, it's an area of public access
one solution the house holder can do is to have their letter box removed from rhe entrance way, and then only have a letter box on their front door that gets round the rules and you have to then go to that front door
why is there a problem going to the door?

If everyone who lives in a multi occ removes the letterbox at street level, how much extra time would you need on each delivery?zx135 wrote:If you are attacked or bitten in the premises it's the exact same as if it was on a public street, it's an area of public access

Do you really believe RM are going to redesign every delivery in each office, because that's what they would have to do.
We have already had nearly 800 new delivery points put in since September, and they're struggling to fit them into walks.
THEY REFUSE TO PUT IN ANY NEW DUTIES AND WANT TO CUT MORE.
you still haven't justified how RM can charge firms for a floor delivery, but expect postmen to go in and up 4 floors because someone can be bothered to come down and answer the door to get something that THEY ordered, when the point of delivery is at street level

Depends on the type of buildings you have in your area, i am in Scotland, we dont really have multi occs we have lots and lots of tenement buildings where each individual flat has its own front door and that is the delivery point so up here we already have this, newer builds tend to have a delivery point but the vast majority of buildings posties are having to go 3,4 or 5 stories up every time with no liftsWhysoslowyehcfc wrote: If everyone who lives in a multi occ removes the letterbox at street level, how much extra time would you need on each delivery?
its not actually that big of a deal to do, doesnt take long to convert a multi occ to one with individual address points in geo route, then geo route is used to plan the duties and the extra hours are thrown out by the computer when the revision is doneWhysoslowyehcfc wrote: Do you really believe RM are going to redesign every delivery in each office, because that's what they would have to do.
Why is the office letting them "fit them into walks" the office should simply get the rep to put in a disagreement and go down the IR process, if they are refusing to put new duties in then again put in a disagreementWhysoslowyehcfc wrote:We have already had nearly 800 new delivery points put in since September, and they're struggling to fit them into walks.

No i didnt say i expect postmen to go in and up four floors when delivery point is at street level, I told you how the person 4 up can change their delivery point so they can get their mail delivered to their delivery point at their front door, Royal mails pricing structure is not something i would try to justify for anythingWhysoslowyehcfc wrote:you still haven't justified how RM can charge firms for a floor delivery, but expect postmen to go in and up 4 floors because someone can be bothered to come down and answer the door to get something that THEY ordered, when the point of delivery is at street level
It seems like the problem is not the fact people want things delivered to their front door its just that your office doesnt seem to want to stick up for itself and would rather moan about the customer than try and fight for themselves

You've hit the nail on the head with the last part,
1 THE REP DOESNT GO TO DISAGREEMENT ON ANYTHING ( I asked the area rep, in the 3 years he's been rep, how many disagreements has he put in, and not surprising he said none )
2 it's every man/woman for themselves
3 as I've said on other posts, I've put in the last 3 revisions, and I've told the rep and area rep, we should go for a full Pegasus revision as I believe it will create more duties, with the amount of new DPs coming in to the area, and the amount of part timers we now have, but neither of them want to know

Its true loads of tenements to deliver to in Scotland where each flat has its own letterbox but theres a considerable amount of the walks in my Scottish city that have 'communal' letterboxes at street level.
One walk in particular has a high percentage which often gets signers for the top floors or some door that is not easily located with the residents invariably late at making themselves 'known' and much like deliver to neighbour these delivery tasks cant be 'planned' in geo route because they are not 'delivery points' but on some days can mean climbing 15 to 20 unaccounted stairways up to 5 floors high .
