Employee Survey 2016

Last time I did this survey the DOM insisted on a few of us doing it in his office whilst he watched, this year he's asked for the survey to be passed back to him in an unsealed envelope.

The survey is a joke, no wonder the results have no semblance of reality.

Anyone else experienced this Gestapo BS? I'm refusing to do it.

Completion of the survey is not mandatory although we would highly encourage all employees to take the opportunity to give their view.

As this is a work-related survey, employees have been allocated time at work (during their WTLL) to complete the survey, rather than expecting employees to fill in their survey at home in their own time. This process of completing the surveys at work is standard practice in many companies.

Each survey should have been given out in an envelope as part of a pack. Each pack contained the survey itself and a pre-paid envelope with Ipsos MORI’s address for returning the survey once completed. Ipsos MORI is an independent research company conducting the survey on RMG’s behalf.

All employees can be confident that their answers will be treated in complete confidence. Ipsos MORI promises that surveys will never be linked to an individual. Ipsos MORI is a member of the Market Research Society. As a member, they are bound by its Code of Conduct not to identify individual respondents’ views.

Surveys should not have been handed back to managers without being sealed in the pre-paid/pre-addressed envelope. Managers should collect the sealed packs and return them in bulk via recorded delivery to Ipsos MORI (ideally using the bags that they arrived in). If employees specifically wish to, they can take the survey home and complete it and then return it in the post in the pre-paid and pre-addressed envelope direct to Ipsos MORI.

We ask people to take part in the survey so that they can share their views in a fair and consistent way, we also give people the opportunity to do this in a confidential environment. The survey gives people the chance to say what they want without being concerned about people finding out what they individually said. Also, only by surveying everyone in RMG will we get an overall view of what people think and be able to respond to that at a corporate level.

Whats the point, nothing ever happens, any answers they dont like gets buried, nothing ever more is said. I just write waste of time over the pages, seal it and go about my business.

This year’s annual Employee Survey is now open.

The survey will run from Monday 29 February until Friday 18 March. The survey is managed by independent research company Ipsos MORI, and all responses are completely confidential.

The survey is everyone's opportunity to give their views on what it's like to work for Royal Mail Group. Last year a fantastic 89% of all employees took part.

Our head of culture change and engagement, Rachel Blackett said: ‘This is your chance to tell us what’s important to you so we can focus on the right areas and make improvements. We’re committed to acting on your feedback, so I encourage everyone to take part.’

He can watch all he likes, it's still not mandatory to fill in.

This year it'll be going straight in the bin. Last year they tried the old, "This year will be different...please take the time to fill it in" routine. And we fell for it

Did anything constructive come of it? Did it bollocks!

It's all about how big their bonus will be! Linos doing very little all day get £1000's , managers get more, nicey nicey time, free biscuits if you fill it in then back to crap all year.

Wish I had this letter printed off today specifically the above part. I have always filled the survey in and, over the last few years, I have taken the time to fill these things away from the office in a calm and measured way and then sent my reply back in the pre-paid envelope provided. The upshot of this morning's debacle was that I was instructed to fill the thing in at work and I told my LINO that it was not mandatory and that I could take the survey away with me to fill it in at home (far from the madding crowd). He then takes it up with the DOm who reinterates this instruction (albeit via the same LINO). Upshot is that I take it to the canteen (with steam coming out my ears) and just put a line through every page.

and then return a few minutes later with a 'spoilt survey' sealed up. Nobody wins here. I get annoyed, the lino obviously got a little annoyed I daresay and there is 1 less survey completed that would otherwise have been completed.

Memo to myself - print the letter off next year to avoid the issue.

We were forced to fill it in today in waste-time-lounging. I pointed out it wasn't mandatory. DIM collared me on way out to round "Did you fill yours in?"
"Yes!" I replied.
"Well there's 3 missing, we had everyone's name who was in there."
"A few may have taken them home" I said.
He then asked a few and one admitted he'd taken it home to do later. DIM wasn't happy as there's nothing to say he won't chuck it in the bin at home.
(which he will.)

Then I saw him and the lino rummaging in the bins outside and in the canteen, unravelling paper to check none had been chucked!

Apparently they still had 2 unaccounted for.

There must be some serious sh*t going on to make the DIMs that obsessed that everybody should fill it in.

I asked them why they were obsessed with 100% completion.
His reply?

"Why would you NOT want to fill it in??"

Funny how they make time for Work Time Learning and Listening around this time of year to try and get us to fill in a worthless survey, yet you are extremely lucky to get more than a handful over the rest of the year giving any proper training, instead WTLL is skipped to reduce overtime budgets and increase the odds of lapsing being done.

27 questions this year yet no answers from the last ten year's posted in our office to any of the question's why should I waste good ink or my time. For such a pathetic response by our employer maybe save the money and put it to our pay-rise or ditch this annual sham for once and for all!
