Delivery Office Transfer Being Blocked, Need Help ASAP!

Hi.
First I'll give a summary of my current situation and then I'll go in to more depth for those who may be able to help.

I currently work in an office in Central London and have to travel 60-90mins each way (bus, tube, bus).
I have a local office willing to take me on but after speaking to my manager, I have been told that his manager won't sanction the transfer.
I have been trying to speak to my local Union Rep for over a week but I apparently keep missing him or he has been off. A colleague of mine gave him my mobile number for him to contact me me today but I have still heard nothing.
I feel that I am going to lose this transfer.

About 3 weeks ago I spoke to one of the managers in my local office (5mins walk away) who said that they had a vacancy and they would be happy to take me but that I would need to go through my office and get the managers to start an ECR (I believe) to get the ball rolling. I then spoke to my manager and explained the situation (that I could not work more hours due to travelling and that I had the extra cost of a zone 1 and 2 travelcard to pay for each month) and I asked for the ECR to begin. I was then told that he had to get authorisation from his manager (area manager I presume) and after about a week I was informed that this area manager would not sanction the transfer due to them apparently having 2 current vacancies (which would have been there since before October when I joined) and that I would also have to wait until the office went through their 'revision' (adjustment to walks and staff, etc).
I mentioned speaking to the local Union Rep regarding the situation to my manager who said that it was a good idea but asked me to wait while he spoke to him. I was also advised that I had to go through the correct channels or procedures as the local rep would need to introduce me to the area Union Reps who would be the ones to deal with this issue.
It has now been over 10 days and I have had no success in proceeding with this. Each day I am fobbed off by my manager and I have been unable to speak to my local rep.

I am feeling more and more stressed at working within my current office and the travelling is an extra stressful experience as each day I have to deal with the rush hour journey. I leave home just after 08:00 and I usually complete my walks and leave the office between 16:00 and 17:00 but it is not unknown for me to be heading home as late as 18:00 so I am often getting home after 19:00 and again this is stressful and affecting me at home with my family.
As someone with a 5 hour contract, this is not the job I applied for and nor do I find it acceptable. 'Cutting Off' is also not a practical solution as I tried that before and it just brought me more stress. Please just accept that it is not an acceptable solution to my situation.

I actually really like the nature of my job I would very much like this transfer as I do not wish to leave RM but with the current circumstances and atmosphere I face at my current office, if the transfer should fail then I am seriously considering handing in my notice because no job is worth being miserable and feeling completely messed about by your management and colleagues.

I am trying to do this the correct way and I understand that things don't happen over night and that is not a problem as long as I see progress and a willingness to accommodate on both sides.

If you need any further information then please ask although I'd rather not give away specific details (the two offices or areas for example).

Have you arranged this transfer officially or unofficially? ie did you apply for the vacancy when it was listed on the rm website or has it not been listed online yet?

in that case there won't be much help for you as if everything is being done unofficially and incorrectly then you can't really complain about it officially, you need the vacancies to be listed then apply for it online that way HR deal with the transfer and everything is done above board and more difficult for dom to prevent the transfer, I would contact the dom in the office you want to move ro and get him to advertise the vacancies

OK, that is the first time I have heard this. I'll speak to them tomorrow and see what they say.
Looks like I'll be handing in my notice shortly. I've really had enough of seemingly being messed around and being lied to.
I have still not heard from my local Union Rep so I really wonder what it is I am supposed to be paying for.
I thought RM was a fairly decent company to work for and yet it seems to be anything but...

When did you start working for Royal Mail as you need to complete and pass a 6 month trial period before applying for a transfer.

I had worked for RM for about 5 minutes before I requested a transfer which was acknowledged & accepted & was transfered across to another DO within 3.5 months.
