This is total crap imho . The only way around it is to do away with meal breaks, then that would free up 40 mins extra delivery .

Six hour deliveries
How is that going to work ? It's a 7.48 hours working day. So with your prep ,load van, travel to and from first call, and meal breaks how are you meant to do a six hour delivery ?

But if you only worked 4 days/week it would be a 9hr 45 working day, so totally possible.zola4ever wrote:How is that going to work ? It's a 7.48 hours working day.

If only our current delivery spans were normally ~4.5 hours, rather than 5+ plus outdoor meal relief!
Should planners come back to "plan" 6 hour deliveries, I can see reality being 7+.

How likely is it that this 6 hour deliveries will actually happen?
I asked our dom if he'd heard anything and he said we can barely cope with what we do at the moment let alone making walks even longer.

Probably the only way it would happen would be if RM get the XMS machines like the one they trialled in Exeter. If they did from what i've read in the forum, it would sequence all your flats, letters and d2ds so there (in theory) would be no prep time needed in DOsMrJordan wrote:How likely is it that this 6 hour deliveries will actually happen?

One wonders if said XMS machine can manage to sequence better than the current machines? By which I mean, not having a random scattering of semi-sequenced mail (i.e. mail for the same delivery points together, but not in sequence relative to each other or the rest of the mail) at the end of the tray or having mail for a.n.other duty sequenced into the middle of your own sequencing? (This was reported, but apparently the mail centre "have no idea why it's happening"!) There's also the random, out-of-sequence stuff where it jumps forward a few delivery points, has a few calls and then comes back to fill in the gap.SpacePhoenix wrote:Probably the only way it would happen would be if RM get the XMS machines like the one they trialled in Exeter. Apparently the DOMs (in my neck of the woods) had a conference call last week where all this stuff came up, and the DOMs where unimpressed by the fact even by the end of the call it still seemed like the CWU knew more about what might be going in than they did!

Have you had any walks changed? Chances are that your A+ needs updatingtoomuchcoke wrote:One wonders if said XMS machine can manage to sequence better than the current machines? Those people who are on 9 day fortnights already voted to extend their working day to an average of 78 hours over 9 days, which equals a 8 hr 40 day without even considering longs and shorts.Creditshampoo wrote:Who wants to make their day even longer?motherhubbard wrote:But if you only worked 4 days/week it would be a 9hr 45 working day, so totally possible.zola4ever wrote:How is that going to work ? But my post was simply to point out that a 7hr 48 day isn't set in stone anywhere. There are other options (some of which are already in use)

Apart from the tracked, parcels, specials, kill offs, redirections, PO Box for delivery, PO Box to collect, keep safe. Yes your right no prep time will be included by the planners and the WTL will be given by video feature on the PDA.

That is actually a good point re: redirections. How are these going to be done, if walks are going to be coming in to the DO already prepped in sequence and tied up? Or is tied up not part of the new fangled system, and thewalks will arrive sequnced in containers. We will then still have to sort through to do redirections and tie up where 1 loop ends and another 1 begins. How exactly is it meant to work? Somebody somewhere surely has the answers!TrueBlueTerrier wrote:SpacePhoenix wrote:Probably the only way it would happen would be if RM get the XMS machines like the one they trialled in Exeter. Baffles me , how are packets going to be turned for ? , redirections ? , Household items , how are Specials by 1 pm worked into this, who's going to take out the household items where people have opted out , the whole thing seems to have a stream of things that can and will go wrongsteve1873 wrote:That is actually a good point re: redirections.
