Revisions - What are they??

Im a newbie so im not sure about revisions.
I know its something to do with reorganizing walks and generally making it harder!
But when do they come around if ever, is it an yearly thing?

Yiou have the idea of revisions, but there is no set timescale when they should happen, although on average I'd say 3 - 5 Years unless there is a major change to the way we deliver, or a lot of local new builds have gone up.

They are not supposed to make it harder, they are about improving efficiency and cutting costs, generally, they take something that works and f*** it up so it no longer works, down the road they try and fix it again and f*** it up some more.

I've put in the last 3 revisions and I'm a postmen, there is no extra pay for this...
In the last resign we put in 2 duties more then we had before, so you can get more.
Since the last resign, which only came into place in September, we've already had 770 new builds come on line..
They are talking about having another revision in May..
Only trouble is they want it done on the back of a fag packet rather then doing a full Pegasus revision, which I believe and they know will mean more walks or drives

Every April the Director gets a budget which means he or her has to save around 6% on their budget or they may not get their yearly contract renewed.

Many Directors over the last few years have been told they are no longer required and therefore they get one years pay off !

All Directors will have worked out a plan to achieve their budget by the following measures merging delivery units , if an MPU is under used closing them , self starter revisions , not filling vacancies, full revisions , VRs , or simply absorption.

The theme in some areas is that they offering part time contract staff an increase in hours but they have to accept a long span so all the increase is outdoors.

This means they can offer full time VRs and allocate the delivery part to part timers ! Longer deliveries by stealth but many part timers in these areas are putting pressure on the Union to agree as they want more guaranteed hours !

Clearly one wave will be part of their business plan and Royal Mail will want pilot areas included in any pay settlement !

Add to the fact Royal Mail want close the defined benefit scheme for all of those employeed before 2008 after 2018 then a number of issues are converging to make this year such a key time for people to stand up and protect your jobs and terms and conditions

3 Years into privatisation we are starting to see the shareholders demanding more money.in December postal workers will have the first opportunity to cash in their intial shares and at the current rate of the share price it will be worth £2800 but you have pay tax etc and you will take around £2300 full time. How many will cash in and your shares will snapped up by the hedge funds who want you to work harder , faster and cheaper!

Royal Mail have a turn over of 9 billion , however the pay and pension bill is 4.5 billion per year and that is what the shareholders and Royal Mail want to attack !

This Pension Business really is a frightening thing! We all know how the job has gone, and how it's going to get worse. However at least we used to be able to say, "Well at least the Pension's Pretty Good"! As soon as the privatised Royal Mail I thought, "How long before they come after our Pensions"? Now we know.

I find nothing more despicable in the modern world of business than trying to shaft people, who may have worked a lifetime in a business, out of Pension Money & Rights.

Normally the people doing it are pretty afluent themselves! We know they have no Morals and it's, "Just Business" but I really do pray they get their comeuppance!
