30 years I've worked at rm and they still suprise me.They gave two of our senior bods evr 3 weeks ago. Ones been my mate there since the day I started and he's lined a part time job up, leaving party is booked with friends and family all invited.
Yesterday they both got told they can't have it now. They are both crushed.
Even our manager was shocked when he was told senior management and union knew weeks ago they wouldn't get it.
If Royal mail was a horse they'd shoot it.

Call me a glass half empty type but if I was lucky enough to get EVR/VR I wouldn't be doing anything until the money was paid and transferred into another bank account.

they do this all the time its to weaken you more to try to get you to finish as much as you would like it dont put in for it make the bastards pay you wages till your retirement age they will soon buckle

That happened to me as well. Cancelled at the last moment, after waiting 3 months.. But as I know how RM work was not surprised one little bit!!

Then clearly they didn't "give it" at all. Too many enquire about the possibility of EVR and ask for a quote, then assume it's been OK'd because they're sent an illustration/quote of the sums they could expect to receive.
It's only irrevocably set in stone when the final document containing leaving date, lump sum and pension arrangements etc is signed and returned.

That's not true, they say in the final document that you sign which ( includes your last day of service date ) that the offer can be withdrawn at anytime up to the last day of service. Interestingly though you cannot change your mind about accepting evr after the same final document has been signed

No it doesn't, it gives your last day of service and the usual "thanks and good luck" platitudes (unless you're a manager {sorry "manger"} that is)

Your being a smart arse, I'm not guessing what it says I've signed it and still got the duplicate copies.

Its not a rapid process, mine took about 12 months from start to finish, keep on your doms back and get him to push it though the motions. Good luck with it.

And you're being a dumb-arse. I saw a form last week, and no mention of the clause you say is on yours.
