I know the cut off procedure has been well documented on here, but what do you do if this happens. Your on a rural and leave the office quite confident you will complete on time, however out on delivery you get held up ( breakdown, puncture, flooded road, fallen tree, etc etc ) so will now not be able to complete and are unable to inform the Dom due to no phone signal. We have asked the Dom and area rep but don't seem to get a definitive answer so I thought I would see if anyone on here could answer this, thanks in advance

these are unforeseen circumstances that will have direct affects on your capability to complete that day, they wouldnt be your fault and you would well be within your rights to return mail undelivered.

Same as above
We once had a flat tyre whilst out on delivery and as we both only wanted to work to our time we delivered what we could. The breakdown guy was a sub-contracter and it took him 3 hours to come and put another tyre on (we are not allowed to change a tyre).
However, you should always inform a manager or DOM ASAP!! You could bring the mail back to the office saying that you couldn't get in touch with a manager because there was no signal or that you don't have a phone. If a dog was loose or just one street was flooded thats perfectly acceptable. But if you bring back half your round without phoning a gaffer to inform them its not going to get delivered - then Im sure that would be looked upon most unfavourably for you

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

A system that makes you use your own personal phone or use somebody else's is not a very good system in the first place.
