Transfer from north west to south west

Hello I currently work in Ormskirk office in the north west , but am looking to transfer to Cornwall , so I just thought would post on here see if anyone down there is interested in a swap , as the current transfer system set by Royal Mail is non existent , no it's a long shot but hey ho cheers .

a swap wont work, as if you are transferring as a ft member of staff, if swapping with another ft member of staff, any pt member of staff in his office would be entitled to get the ft vacancy before your transfer in leaving you with the resultant pt contract, correct option is to follow the transfer through correctly, however i feel best option is to ring round a few offices and speak to the dom

I seriously doubt (no sarcasm, just based on locations) that anybody would move from the mild extremity of the peninsula to the grim grey NW unless they had a very pressing reason to do so. It seems a very unlikely proposition but you have to try I suppose. I don't think swap is the answer, but a simple vacancy arising in any DO near your intended Cornish location, but presumably you have tried that route. Good luck with it.

I believe seniority is transferred with you, well it seemed to be when we amalgamated and the new intake kept it over us. I am not 100% sure though as there may be different rules in different circumstances.

if another person from that office was willing to swap it could be done ,not as a transfer just a swap , we've a lad currently doing this now in our workplace , but know what u mean about the likelihood of this happening, but have to try . Have you Seen how the transfer system. Works now , you basically just apply for any jobs that come up and we all know there just the shitty 20 hour contracts , cheers for replies though .

Does anyone know how you transfer? I've been told 3 different things
Put a transfer form in via line manager
Apply online via the intranet
Apply for jobs as they become vacant at the office you want to move to
Tried logging on this success factors webpage but nothing happens
Any help gratefully received

applying online for any advertised vacant duty is the official way to do it, anything else is unofficial

Try contacting the DOMs for some of the DOs in the area of the south west that you're hoping to transfer to

We had somebody arrange an unofficial transfer to a nearby office nicely slotting into a FT vacancy , that was until the union stepped in and said the vacancy should be filled in office and the resulting pt vacancy should be offered.

Needless to say the transfer didn't happen

and that's exactly the way it should happen, vacancies offered in the office first to the most senior pt (or ft) that wants it
