Ok, since there's no option to close a thread I'm just going to try deleting the original post as it's turned into a bit of a slanging match which isn't what I was looking for. Thanks for all helpful replies.

stop running round
1st back sums it all up
work to your time then cut off
if you have the guts to do it
and dont blame others for doing the job properly
management wont touch him or they would have by now so ask yourself what am i doing wrong
oh and btw mgmt will be laughing at you for enlarging their bonus

So your saying in order to do the job properly you have to move at the pace of a snail and cut off? That isn't doing the job properly and the op never said he rushes around just that his partner has admitted he's dragging it out to get overtime. If you are the driver mate just get your loops done then leave him out there and let a manager pick him up. They'll soon sort him out when you make it their problem not yours

There's nothing to suggest that he is running around.hans solo wrote:stop running round

Every office has one of these slow clowns. I don't mean people who are doing the job properly. I mean people who are stood in gardens stroking cats and going to the toilet for 15 mins in the morning but whenever you're in there they are just stood around talking rather than actually using the toilet.
Doing this to drag it out in your own time to work your hours is fine. But doing it and holding someone else back is out of order. If you want overtime go and do half a walk.

This is a management issue and not for us to take sides or make presumptions about whether someone is slow or rushing around, If you want to finish on time then let management deal with it, If you've nothing to hide concerning the way you do the job then you've nothing to worry about.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

work till time then drive back to the office and let him finish by himself...if he doesn't drive load him up a golf trolly on your last loop then go back to the office and let him walk back.

As the saying goes, you have a start and a finish time, anything extra is optional.

Hear hear! I have had a$$-clowns like that, but only once each. First one I made take me back on time, he alone had to stay out and finish on OT and that included my loops I hadn't completed because I was waiting by the van 15 minutes after each bag. Managers have never put me with him again. Second one I took my own van and came back over an hour earlier than the other one. The third time it happened, he was off the next week and I was on it with a runner, we blasted it 2 HOURS quicker just to make a point.mancpat wrote:There's nothing to suggest that he is running around.hans solo wrote:stop running round

There are now 3 people in our office who are excessively slow (would fail frame speed/walk checks etc.) and nobody will partner them so they usually get their own van and don't get OT when they are late as they accept they aren't quick enough to do the jobs as even the moderately-paced can finish them early.

"we blasted it 2 HOURS quicker just to make a point" and then all your colleagues, including those twice your age who can't 'blast it', are expected to do it in the same time.bustedflush wrote:Hear hear! Someone twice my age would likely have retired (although with RM you never know!) as he/she would have already received Her Majesty's Telegram. I think centenarians get excused lapsing after the telegram, or so I heard and an extra week leave.Lounge Lizard wrote:"we blasted it 2 HOURS quicker just to make a point" and then all your colleagues, including those twice your age who can't 'blast it', are expected to do it in the same time.bustedflush wrote:Hear hear! Just to qualify the last statement, the 2 hours was a Tuesday and the lino knows the score with the person concerned and the fact we are a quicker pair and is aware people don't like being paired with them. I said before we left we'd take the mickey but the other way to what the on-leave duty holder does....

He never said he's doing the job properly, he said he's purposely taking his time. There are people on one hand who run around, and there are people on the other who deliberately work slowly, and both are bad for the company and for the rest of us.hans solo wrote:stop running round

There are walks in our office that can be done in 2hrs, it doesn't mean you're rushing if you get back for 12, just that you have an easy walk. Meanwhile I've worked with people who'll take 15 minutes longer than necessary on every loop because they drag things out and stop to talk to everyone they meet. If it's costing the company 2-3hrs OT between the two of you every day, how is that good for the rest of us?

The OP says that his partner is stretching the duty out both indoor & outdoor in order to book/claim OT for more money, so how exactly is this "doing the job properly"?. Please enlighten me on that one as I'm always fascinated to listen to the theories of RM employees with the sort of mentality you seem to have.hans solo wrote:stop running round

EXACTLY!
The people that work purposely slow are equally as bad if not worse than people who rush around.

So what? You aren't joined at the hip. If you want to finish at your time, then inform manager and he will need to either make arrangements to convey yourself back to office for finishing time (if you are the non-driver), or you drive back to office for finishing time and leave passenger with remaining work and manager will have to arrange conveyance back to office for the non-driver.
Nobody has an obligation to work past their contracted hours, regardless of what speed their park and loop partner work at.
If, on the other hand you just have a bee in your bonnet about not being able to get off to a flyer and finish before your time, well you can guess at the sympathy and advice I am going to give you.
