We have a nightshift of 2 who ..
Tidy office / yard
Download pdas
Finish any booking in
Drag in and seg/record all mail arrivals
Seg d2d and put out
Sort large pets
Scan all tracks and seg (8000 +..DOUBLE ON PEAK MONTHS)
Put out mech trays..
Our office is rammed and there is now where to store mail.we get on average 13/14 wagons in between 11pm-- 8 am.
They are looking to remove both nightshifts.
So how does it work in other d/os of any notable size.

The only nightshifts left will be MPUs and I reckon they will cut down on them too. I'd put in for a transfer to your Mail Centre when they put in for cessation of the duties.

Do nightshifts
I know of an office near to the office i work, and heard the reason they are getting rid of the nights there because the person who is in charge takes the piss out of his partner by giving him the crap jobs while he just scans tracked all night drinking tea, apparently his usual nightshift partner has gone on the sick, so they have used numerous others to do nights but after a couple of shifts say they don`t like working with him and go back on delivery, i hope this is not your office col456xyz
