Dismissal pay

Hi, I got dismissed last Thursday and I got my final pay slip today stating I was being paid -£49 also got a letter stating I e been over paid £49 and they want the money back. I thought that I should have been paid back pay for the remainder of the week i.e. Mon/tue/wed as I was still on suspension while the investigation was ongoing. BTW it not theft just a simple bump in a van but I figure they want to make an example of me for some case!

Is it possible the overpayment is because of holiday you've taken but not actually accrued because of leaving before the year end? Just occurred to me as a possibility because you earn holiday days as you work during the year and if you take your full year's holiday allowance before April then you'll have to owe them some. Unless you had holiday outstanding of course. Don't know your circumstances naturally., I hope you're glad to be out of the place like many would be. Do wish you better luck in the future.

No still have 3.5 days holiday on my card. Also 2 weeks owed, which is another story, from holiday leave while I was on the sick from breaking a rib on duty which didn't go down on the AOD list again...

So I should have still been paid then?

not sure on your holiday pay but you are paid for the week you work on the friday not a week in hand, overtime is paid a week later.
you'll need to call HR over your missing holidays but guessing they'll just say that's what's on the system and your ex manager will have to adjust it.
I'd refuse to pay it until they redo the holidays, could be a long wait mind

If only 3.5 days holiday left from this year then you have used more of your leave allowance than there is left for remainder of year, £49 would be about a days worth roughly, so would seem roughly correct

if you have 2 weeks un taken for previous years unfortunately your probably going to have to fight to get paid for these

if it was a simple bump in the van as you put it and no one got hurt get your rep to appeal the decision as it does seem very harsh for that, depending on your previous history you should probably at most have only got a 2 year serious

Just tell them thanks for the unpaid overtime and we will call it quits.
