You can only do it through OH Assist as they give a medical opinion to your Manager who, depending on his grade, either approves it or passes it up the line.

No and no.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Yes.

Its extremely quick if all sides agree, the delay is usually OH Assist assessing and RM making the decision.

Don't you actually have to be off sick to be considered for IHR?
The original post makes no mention of being off work due to the back and knee pain.

No, it's a stronger case but it's not a pre-requisite. A postman at my Unit was working right up to the day he accepted IHR. Took him 3 months from asking for OH assist assessment to actually leaving.

If you want to leave this horrible job then it is very simple you hand a letter in saying I resign and a week later you leave

Yes if the taxable part takes you over the thresholds, but IIRC IHR payment tax is complicated so see a tax advisor.

If I was unbearable pain the tax would would not bother me but getting out of the hell hole would and the sooner the better.
