Managers Delivering Mail From Personal Cars
Are managers allowed to deliver mail from their personal cars. They have been a few instances where managers in my area have been seen delivering mail from their private vehicles. The answer we get from them is that they have business insurance and that they are fully covered??

Re: Managers Delivering Mail From Personal Cars
managers generally have business insurance on their cars to cover them traveling to different sites for meetings etc, there are several classes of business insurance the cheapest type allows this and does not permit the carrying of mail, to carry mail they would need a type of business insurance that covered couriers and that is expensive so very unlikely that they have.
at the end of the day what difference is it making to you or your colleagues if a manager is using their car? If they are doing things wrong or even illegal as long as it doesn't directly affect you then don't worry about it, if it is affecting you then there are other ways to deal with these sort of things than going after them delivering from cars

I wouldn't imagine they are covered. I would say they are not covered if they move their cars around a delivery as this requires courier insurance. Easy way to find out, drive into their car and state they were driving around delivering mail from the back of their car and then see what their insurance company says or tell the police the car is uninsured or ask your insurer if business insurance covers this task.
My understanding of business insurance is that yes you can use your car for work going from one site to another but not for delivering mail from.

Yes, with the right insurance and permission to do so from the business.postman_jack wrote:Are managers allowed to deliver mail from their personal cars.
Its only OPGs that were covered by the bond which has been removed in most offices, but not those that are still to go to CDVs.postman_jack wrote: They have been a few instances where managers in my area have been seen delivering mail from their private vehicles.
Unfortunately there is no requirement for them to prove it to you or your colleagues so you have to take what they say at face value. Of course, if the police ask then they are required by law to prove they have the correct insurance and permission.postman_jack wrote:The answer we get from them is that they have business insurance and that they are fully covered??
