Parcels coming from Deutsche Poste DHL in Germany have been transferred from Parcelforce Worldwide to the Royal Mail core network.

Parcelforce Worldwide has been reviewing its traffic to see if any items could be handled in the RM network as efficiently.

Royal Mail is now delivering Deutsche Poste DHL parcels with our Tracked 24 product. These parcels should be handled like any other tracked product. While some parcels are larger than our typical traffic, they remain within our size restrictions. Any parcels that exceed our dimensions are still being delivered by Parcelforce.

Your role

As the parcels arrive into the UK from Germany, an additional label will be added. This will identify the parcel as a Tracked 24 product. This label will not have the delivery address on it.

Postmen and women will need to scan the new label, and deliver to the address on the original Deutsche Post label.

We've had full sized fridges, cookers and photocopiers - some of these have needed 2 people just to pick them up - don't tell me that's within our size restrictions?

Our size restrictions as far as i am aware and taken from a RM link are maximum parcel weight of 20kg and 61cm X 46cm X 46cm.

Transfer of Work to Royal Mail from Parcelforce

The department were recently informed by the business that the Royal Mail network will be receiving some additional tracked traffic, which is due to a change in contract arrangements that currently exist between Parcelforce Worldwide and an international customer.

Ø The items that are within specification, i.e. less than 20kg in weight, will then be dispatched to the National Distribution Centre (NDC) for onward distribution and delivery within the RM network

Ø The items that are not within specification, i.e. 20kg and over, will continue to be delivered by Parcelforce in line with current arrangements


Quite clearly it states a max weight of 20kg - well we've had plenty over that limit.
What are we supposed to do with items that are over that restriction? Nobody in my DO seems to know the correct answer and our DOM just goes down the route of well we'll get it delivered between us.
All well and good if the addressee is at home, but with limited space in the callers it becomes an issue. Especially when the lady on the calllers has to look for help to get one of those items out to a customers car etc.

Surely we should just send the items back to NDC from where they've been put into our system?

This has to be looked as a a matter of urgency. It's all very well taking on new work but duties can't handle it. More and more signatures required, and vans which aren't big enough for hoovers, microwave ovens ect!
