does anyone have guide for how long you leave equipment and vehicles unattended

As far as I know there is no limit on vehicles as long as they secured and all mail is out of view.

Timings on lwts and hct but as far as vehicles go no,unless its changes since I left last year.
Only way you could argue for a time with vehicles would be if if was parked in a high crime area,try police Scotland for figures on vehicle crime etc.

You might be able to argue a point via health and safety is dynamic risk assesment-"there was a suspicious looking granny with a look of potential theft in her eyes"

But you know RM-it will be the postie over reacting untill it goes boobs skywards.

I do my walk the way I was shown, and I leave my LWT way longer than that. Timings were never mentioned.

Maybe my walk isn't suitable for a LWT. What are the alternatives? There's a couple of inclines. Not steep, but long, and I struggle a little.

lwt is maximum of 1 min unattended, if your leaving it unattended for more than 2 min how long would it take for someone to take a bundle of mail out of it, timings are mentioned in the security procedures which every postie signs to say they will comply with, if IB saw your trolley left lying you would probably be suspended straight away and more than likely face a dismissal hearing

I class unattended as out of my immediate eye line. I wouldn't even leave a LWT unattended for 60 seconds. As far as HCT's, as long as they are chained up, I have left them for a bit longer than 10 minutes - but obviously if anything happened I would need to assume responsibility. I consider it quite unlikely though.

Let me clarify with regard LWT - if I had to go round back of property or in to a set of flats and upstairs, I would unhook the bag and carry it whilst leaving the trolley itself unattended. Although it is RM property, I guess it being stolen is preferable to me jeapordising the integrity and security of the mail.

How would that work with loops that take 30-45 minutes?

I have dozens of houses with long steep drives, each one takes over a minute. Why was I give a trolley if I can't leave it? My partner has flats! I think the planner cocked up somewhat.
