Packets

Post by Whysoslowyehcfc »

Can someone on here tell us the agreed figure, on how many packets should be in a red sleeve york..
I've heard it's approx 200?
If that's true then it's time to stop the bullshit and tell the truth..
Nearly every York that came in last night was full from top to bottom, we randomly picked a couple out and did a count, 263 and 248 packets in them, and they weren't Yorks containing the packets from China,we all know they can run into a good 400 in those Yorks.
So much for the finger scanners...

I thought any container, whether it be York, Sleeve or mini York was measured by weight for H&S reasons ... not quantity of contents.

There is no nationally agreed figure, the acf is agreed locally in each mail centre between management and the union

Well as far as I am aware ....as soon as the sleeve hits the bottom then its full dosent matter if there is 1 pkt or 1,000 pkt's

Yes there is an agreed figure but it is not a nationally agreed figure.
Like he told you the ACF (Average Container Fill) is agreed locally.

what difference does it actually make to you even if the figures are different to the actual contents?

On a container by container basis none, even on a day by day basis its very little. But if the ACF is constantly under or over then resourcing correctly becomes difficult and we all know that managerial stress tends to flow downhill.

The Average Container Fill in our office gets checked daily,......so wether its flats ,letters packets.they take an average and if the M.I.S.T needs changing then it gets changed

Which is all well and good. It doesn't exactly help the OPG when they are having their performance questioned regarding packet sorting... when they can't even accurately determine packet volumes!

problem you have when you question figures they then tell you thats not this weeks / months figures , figures do what they want them to do we have a model day of 50,000 and whenever it goes anywhere near 40,000 we cant cope ,we have a start time and we have a finish time thats the best figures to go with , our last count was 172 for hood ,25 for large packets , 126 for letters ,47 for flats .
