Delivery office issues

It surely can't be just ours with problems.
There will always be a "us & them" attitude between management & workers in all industries, always have and always will.
but I feel there is a fast becoming "us & them" problem between co-workers brewing too, which is an even bigger issue.

We've had quite a few lows in morale this year, in fact it lasted a full year, what gets me is that nobody can win while there is the need for greed.
I see staff moaning about lapsing yet they still start 2 or 3 even 4/5 hours early, then this leads to staff who start on time moaning they will now have extra walking to do.
this is just one example, there are other issues, but it seems no matter the dog doo thrown at us, some will eat it and not bother to brush their teeth either,
we even had 2 on annual leave this week starting at 2-3 am doing ips (very sad) but I don't know their financial circumstances, but also one postman kicking off for been made to go out with even more, then still starting at 3am later?
an overtime block has been only murmured as its totally against the union reps recommendation and against a certain few others too.
I know we're here to earn what is good money per hour but is fast becoming hard labour

There is a growing divide in our office between posties who do the job as it should be done (if that leaves no time for lapsing so be it) and other posties who are starting before their start time, not taking breaks, rushing about daft both in the office and out on delivery and also when they go over their finish time they won't bother claiming extended delivery.
No wonder the jobs going to pot when you have idiots going a million miles an hour every day, it doesn't take a lot of posties doing this before the management expects this from everyone! They are ruining the job and it'll just get worse!

So they have their own keys?
...and how do you know they start at 3am...and given that there's unlikely to be much mail at 3am what do they do for these 3-4 hours?

Think you'll find that a very large % of unskilled jobs are lower paid,
With the exception of Saturday's the hours are still very good, working to my time im still home with the kettle on by 2.30/2.45.

Is the job hard work? Without a doubt.
Do management want blood? Of course they do
Is the job that bad i want to spend all day moaning about it? No,, not a chance,
The second best job ive ever had, and no im not a manager and yes ive been there long enough to know what it was like before the revision, but its here and i for one aint bothered about it.

Ha ha good gag, but not worth pasting it 4 times!!!

My gripe is other postcode section staff get to go out early (smaller duties) get back early (no lapsing) then put down they got back on time!!

Why do managers turn a blind eye to these when other sections are claiming every day. Managers must send them out again to cut overtime cash -------- get rid of excess managers, they don't do anything.

Wait until the daily hip, knee or other joint related pain starts, then I'm sure you'll revise your estimation of this job downwards. Don't think it'll happen to you? Then you must be made of sterner stuff, Titanium perhaps.

In my delivery office we all have keys to get in, and everyone who knows the cage duty has keys to that, too.

how the hell do they start 4 £hours early and what the hell do they do for 4 hours? Surely they are getting paid for ips or prep? I agree though some idiots running on delivery and in 45/60 mins early no breaks etc really piss me off , i thnk union needs to do more about them especially running on delivery it looks a bit sad and I unprofessional I simply say I can't do lapsing n heavy days and cut off

They sort packets & IPS and throw sequenced mail in frames, and some make sure their own pairing is on top, a few can be ready to tie up by the time I start and I've only had 10 minutes worth of mail put in.
Then cue the "its the summer lapsing plan today"
To be honest we don't get any grief if we say we won't get any of it done
