misdelivery
had a fact finding meeting last week about a misdelivery, put in a few proposals to help preventing it again, have now been invited to a formal conduct meeting.this sounds to me as if they are trying to put me on a conduct code should i be worried, i will be going with a rep..

Re: misdelivery
All depends on the circumstances ie a single letter mis delivered between 12 high road and 12 high street and first occasion then nothing to worry about a rep should be able to fight that, but at other end of scale if multiple letters and been going on for a while with many mistakes including specials going to wrong addresses etc then that could be a whole other matter

Re: misdelivery
What proposals did you suggest?DBLAND1 wrote:had a fact finding meeting last week about a misdelivery, put in a few proposals to help preventing it again, have now been invited to a formal conduct meeting.this sounds to me as if they are trying to put me on a conduct code should i be worried, i will be going with a rep..
All seems a bit heavy handed over a misdelivery, how does taking you down the conduct code prevent a misdelivery ever happening again?
Misdeliveries are so easy to make, you only have to look at the number of distractions that a postie has to deal with on a daily basis, as well as all the do's & dont's that you have to follow while out on delivery, also factor in tiredness, fatigue & stress all of which can have a bearing on concentration.
Are you being singled out? Try to find out if other people have done the same or similar in your unit, how were they dealt with?

Re: misdelivery
I may be remembering this incorrectly but isn't the process meant to be:
Counsel, Train and then Conduct if appropriate.

It could also be said that delivering the mail correctly is really easy.parforthewalk wrote:

It says 42 Acacia Avenue on the envelope so you deliver it to 42 Acacia Avenue - not 32 or 52 and not Acacia Road.
How difficult is that really?
Of course everyone makes mistakes because nobody is perfect but if the same mistake is repeated it suggests something other than human error.

Re: misdelivery
On the other hand there could be instances where misdeliveries are more likely due to customers not having numbers on their doors? E.g. 3 addresses round the back and up the stairs - which one is 32A, 32B, 32C Acacia Road if they aren't numbered? Fine for the duty holder, and those familiar with the round, but such issues make it a bit more tricky for those who aren't familiar!motherhubbard wrote:It could also be said that delivering the mail correctly is really easy.parforthewalk wrote:

Re: misdelivery
We have a street covered by my unit which runs as follows; 1a,1b,1c,1d,1e,1f,1g,1h (block of 8 flats), a 150 yard dead walk to 13a,13b,13c 13d,13e,13f,13g,13h (block of 8 flats), then immediately next door is 1a,1b,1c (a commercial building with 3 separate delivery points, none with a number displayed), then 3,5,7,9,11,13 and upwards (terraced houses). Mail for the blocks of flats frequently arrives without an a or b etc specified in the address. I would be surprised to uncover a single postie that has EVER worked in my unit that hasn't ballsed up deliveries to numbers 1 and/or 13 in some shape or form.

Re: misdelivery
Some of the addresses on one of our duties are delivered by customer name as they are frequently addressed incorrectly ( including council tax etc), if we were to deliver it as addressed then we get complaints.
