Christmas Cheer from depot management
Is it company policy to deny all and every driver in the country ANY Christmas cheer by way of a free vend for a few days and breakfast rolls for one day and a complimentary bottle of wine and a Christmas card from the depot management or is it just the Newport depot?,,I ask because over the last couple of years during the run up to Christmas when everyone is working over and above the call of duty, the depot manager in Newport has been eroding the little things that make for a little bit of goodwill, like a free drinks vend for a few days,,it doesn't cost a lot but it means a lot especially when the drivers are out all hours in all weathers. The depot manager stopped it because he claimed it was being abused ,Abused by whom?,,Certainly not the drivers since they are all out on the road,,so it has to be the indoor staff.,Next to go was the breakfast rolls,,Excuse this time?? cost..this year..nothing,,Just a little reminder to management,,when you have lost all the goodwill of the workforce ,you will NEVER get it back,so all the little extras the drivers did has now stopped,,you will find that the drivers will ONLY do what they are PAID to do,,no more,,no less..A HAPPPY WORKFORCE IS A PRODUCTIVE WORKFORCE,and never forget that we all work for the same company for the same reasons,

Our manager did the same although we did get a bottle of wine but you had to go into his office and shake his hand, he then crossed you of his list after asking for your name. He's been here over two years we are not such a big depot that he can't know people's names.

No bottle of wine ( just a dozen of them from those I deliver to )
and no free vend, but we've got neither vending machine nor canteen.

Nothing from the business locally, except what the staff brought in.

Free vending machine? Bottles of wine? Are you in a DO? This is nothing I've heard of in the many DOs I've covered. A few years back one box of cheap mince pies was left near the signing in sheet. It was probably left by management - it was a box of 24 and there were over 70 staff!
