Still in the Union but I think its because you have opted out of the political fund - so you don't pay any extra donation
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

How do you go about opting out of that?

I believe that regardless of whether you 'Opt in' or 'Opt out' you pay the same, but the 'Opt in' means that the part of your
CWU membership payment that is allocated as a political levy goes towards the Labour party. If you 'Opt out' you
are still paying part of your fee as a political levy but it doesn't go towards the Labour party.

See attached letter from CWU to read all about it.

I always thought you paid a bit more like 25p a week if you opted in and that went to the lab bore party

nearly right.

Its 20p and it goes to a generic political fund http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 15&t=64905" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; not Labour directly.

However you can decide if you want to be an affiliated member of the Labour party and if you do part of the 20p goes towards Labour. http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 15&t=68970" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

To opt out there used to be a form but since the law was changed you now have to opt in. If you now wish to change your mind, or you think there has been an error then contact the CWU HQ direct via email http://www.cwu.org/contacts.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
