What is the official word on carrying leave over ?

I have always been told you could carry over 5 days, I moved offices during the summer and happened to mention to the manager today that I still had 6 days to book. He didn't seemed impressed ! I don't think I'm the only one with leave still outstanding

You can carry a week over with permission from the dom, all annual leave should have been booked for this year so shouldn't be a surprise to the dom, in fact next year's annual leave should already be booked, it's supposed to be done the october before each year

think 5 days is offically right but if you are continually refused leave [mainly single days] you can carry over as many days as you like. as zx says all weeks leave should have been cocluded before end of october this year for next year.

I have 18 days and been told no available leave days so all carried over. Is this correct?

I've put in for 12 different weeks and only one was approved so I have tried booking them

Get your rep, area rep involved. If you have 18 days left from this year (not carry overs from previous years) you may not have been able to take your statutory leave. RM is breaking the law if they don't let you take it in the correct leave year. They can tell you when, but it must be (for statutory leave) within the leave year.

That's the basic rules, but there are subtle differences based on types of contract, whether you volunteer to carry over if you have been off sick etc so as I say contact your rep and let them sort it out. It will be especially confusing if you carried leave into this current leave year, but you are entitled to take all your statutory leave whatever the managers say.<br>

I told my manager Christmas eve that I still had leave to book, he seemed shocked and questioned it ! yes I'm sure I know how much leave I have otherwise you managers will rob me off it !!!
