Bumping duty holder off because of disability ?

We have 3 members of staff on light duties at the moment. Of which at least 2 expect to be taken off delivery duties permanently due to their ongoing medical conditions.

I fully understand and accept that RM will seek to find a duty that can accommodate their conditions, but can they for example bump a regular indoor duty(we only have 3) holder , who has no ongoing medical condition or concerns,off their duty?

Also, if they can, does that then have a knock on effect in terms of the now spare OPG bumping someone off their walk and on and on?

no not supposed to, unless a duty has been specifically ringfenced. but even then, there are conditions. you seen the rep?

If someone was in a car accident and left with a disability, how could any duty have been ringfenced for them in advance?
RM has a legal responsibility to try and provide work for anyone with a disability and if that means an able bodied colleague losing their duty so be it.
They have the choice of vacant duties until a resign.
Which would most people prefer - the mild inconvenience of having to do a duty they are trained for until they can pick one more to their choosing or a lifetime living with a disability?
Some people need to understand when they are well off and stop whinging.

Let's get it straight nobody is whinging. I just want to know the correct procedure.
Our nearest MC is about 4 miles away.
Our rep really couldn't care less about the current duty holders or those that have medical conditions.
It's been nearly 3 years since our revision and still no resign despite 100% of duties affected. Rep and his mates came out with decent duties. Rep still uses a bike ffs,puts it in the back of the shared van.

I really don't think it's a case of nicking a duty.

The people concerned haven't even expressed an interest at the option or possibility of an indoor duty at our DO.
One of the people concerned says he will probably end up at the MC.

I just wanted to know what the correct procedure would be - would an indoor duty at the existing duty holders DO be considered before the local MC ?

Then obviously what happens to the old duty holder.

Nothing even mentioned about this all as yet, but as one of just the 3 indoor duty holders it would be nice to know how we stand as i've never known how it works, despite being in RM for nearly 17 years.

There's 3 indoor full time duties, role, c Allerston and dom support

It is the business resposibility to make a reasonable adjustment, not potentially a duty holder who has, a duty that meets the needs/requirements of someone who in the opinion of OH the equality act is likely to apply.

They would have signed for it in an official resign or vacant duty notice i reckon!

if they are the holder of a duty it is their duty, if you are the holder of a duty it is your duty, if we are duty holders they are our duties. This is applicable until such times as a full office resign or duty revision.
You are quite right we are sometimes instructed to work as directed, however your 318 (this is a description of what you do and when you are likely to do it) is what you look at when signing for a duty (making this your duty) to give you an idea of what you will most likely be doing on a day to day basis.
As for purchasing it i couldn't possibly comment on your office as i dont work there.
If you wanted to instigate the as directed bit you would most likley attend for work and wait to be told what to do for every second of evey minute of every hour of your working day. If this is something that interests you speak to your local rep.
