If you want a legal answer its best to contact a legal eagle.

However, if you have given them your number then you have probably tacitly agreed to contact. Would it be better to contact you on a Saturday, of course it would be, however there is nothing specific about not contacting on Sundays. If you are concerned about it then perhaps a written note to the manager asking him not to contact you specifically on Sundays may alleviate the problem.

What if someone has just contacted them to say they won't be in tomorrow?

It seems every other thread is about how lazy managers are and how they all go home by midday.
And when is working on a Sunday, guess what? That isn't right either.

Yes of course they are anyone can contact anyone ,unless you withdraw there implied right to contact, In short unless you specifically say do not contact me on a Sunday (or any other day) they are perfectly entitled to.

At the end of the day Mother is correct - like 'em or not they have likely been contacted by an absentee or informed by the local MC of a heavy load of flats/mail for Monday so are making an effort to alleviate the issue. If you came in and were on sorting longer or didn't have your prep done if you were P/T you'd soon be p*ssing and moaning about getting out late or something.

Sorry, but I think if you lot were DIMs you'd be doing the same - you'd not be doing your job otherwise.

I think if you were say off sick then it would not be acceptable. However fellow colleges and sometimes managers text posties to see if they want to start early on overtime. They are happy with this as they want the shift. Same as working your day off on OT.

Why wouldn't he/she be able to send you a text message? Also not to somewhat side with the management side of things, but if they've just contacted you to ask you a simple yes or no question, via text message as well, is it really that much of a big deal?

I presume you do go in early now & again on OT to do some sorting or frame prepping, would you prefer you weren't contacted & that OT went to someone else? Because the next thing would be you'd more than likely have a problem with not being contacted and offered the OT, instead it always going to someone else.

If it's that much of a hassle to you, then just say to your manger never contact me by any means on my day off for any reason & that's the start & end of your problem.
