You may have seen or heard reports over the weekend that Royal Mail is planning to use cameras in its new PDAs to provide proof of delivery for some items.(http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 1&p=716252" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

We have built a camera facility in our new PDAs, which are due to be rolled out across our delivery offices in the new year. However, we haven’t made any decisions about how these cameras may be used. The camera functionality will be disabled at first.

In some circumstances and subject to technical considerations, the camera facility might be used where a customer requests proof of delivery to a safe place. If we were to use the new camera facility, we would need to ensure we did so in line with data protection laws and other relevant laws and guidelines.

Of course, the number of photos we could actually take would be limited, as pictures use up a lot of background storage.

What happens now
You should continue to deliver parcels and letters as you usually do. If the customer is not at home, you should attempt Delivery to Neighbour, except for Special Delivery, International Signed For or if the customer has opted out. If the item is an RM Tracked item and has an official safe place, then it may be left as instructed on the label.

Years ago we had little instruction books given to us all now it is hearsay and propaganda with nothing in writing or black and white shows how far we have been indoctrinated by the dark forces from above.

Regularly see other courier firms taking pictures of customers front doors. Asked what that was about, they said, "It proves I've been to the property if there's any argument"!

There was a courier I saw on a busy town centre street who was photographing himself by holding a pda in one hand and posting a packet thru the letterbox with the other, looked like an amazon size book/dvd or somesuch. Looked absurd. I've no idea what company he worked for, had no uniform and no branding on the van.
