first time on here so I thought I'd start with something light. search dancing postman on line, watch both clips there's two, count the proper procedure errors there's many, read the comments from a RM spokesperson, if anyone watched those videos and injured themselves trying to copy him and lord knows I'd injure myself if i tried, or were injured in similar breaches of heath and safety given our spokespersons approval would RM have any legal responsibility? i asked Moyas team but didn't get a straight answer. one of the clips can be found at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newsvid ... ation.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and if you read the comments probably the more damning one is at http://www.westerndailypress.co.uk/Post ... story.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; not worried about getting Mr Prowes into trouble the mans bulletproof... and bendy, very bendy. RM have put him on such a high pedestal he could cut a limb of a manager and beat them to death with the soggy end and RM wouldn't touch him

Royal Mail don't host you tube so they haven't encouraged it that way.

Unless the comment is an authorised reply in an official capacity it won't be seen as authorisation. The comment is most likely someone posting in a private capacity.

Even if it is an official account, it's in an unofficial arena and therefore is not official acceptance of the behaviour so commented on.

In the unlikely event that comment has been made by someone using an official account, it still won't be seen as encouragement because dancing at work is inappropriate behaviour and anyone doing so is doing it on their own recognizance. It's the argument that if your manager told you to jump off a cliff would you. The final decision to dance or jump is up to the individual and if they injure themselves doing something unofficial they can blame no-one but themselves.

oh well there goes my master plan but a RM media spokes person being quoted in the telegraph after seeing the video seems to me like they got it wrong, and in our office if a manager told us to jump of a cliff we didn't we'd probably be conducted!!

"As well as putting a smile on people's faces, he is a hard worker who is good at his job. It is a pleasure to have him working for us."

No mention of dancing so that doesn't count. Also as he is dancing on the street, not in an actual workplace how he moves from van to delivery point is his choice as long as he follow H&S guidelines.

Now I can see where you are coming from and the best advice I can give is to bring to to the attention of the parties that are helping with their tribunal. However, I think its a stretch to claim a comment made to a journalist by a Media Spokesperson is official approval by RM that everyone can dance in any situation at work. Context is they key in both the above story and the incident you suggest your partner is involved in.

But Val Bodden saying what she did is not advocating someone doing street dancing in the middle of moving artics and forklifts far from it.

seriously you cant see any health and safety issues or procedural errors? Val Bodden or whoever she was speaking on behalf watched those clips and said its a pleasure having him work for us how can that be interrupted in any other way than approval of his delivery style and nobody can deny there are problems with it, would you want to be stood in front of mr prowes waving his knee around like that, they cut that bit short for some reason. the video my partner foolishly uploaded had fewer issues than that and resulted in her and her buddy being instantly dismissed. its not okay for management to be so ambiguous about whats acceptable from its employees

apologies i don't mean to sound ungrateful for your comments i appreciate that you've taken the time to respond at all. you've seen the two clips and cant deny there are issues how serious they are is up for debate but they're there. i understand the press release if it is that is a qualified response to a specific event, the videos and so encompasses all the actions in it unless they state otherwise. i don't see how its possible to infer anything other than a positive response from commenting its a pleasure having him work for us after watching the clips and as such a positive response to its faults. i don't believe its healthy for the people who direct our company to be positive about breaking any rules in any context. it can only lead to confusion for our workers who will ultimately pay the price for any harm as a result of breaking those rules and so its irresponsible of management to act in this fashion. or at least those are my feelings.
