miss sorts

Post by postie1975 »

Anyone know if this could be classed as willful delay?

I understand if you finish duty 15 minutes early and drive back around the round to do them but what happens if your booking extended or growth on a round?

if finish times 14:10 and your going over 40 minutes to an hour sometimes more to complete are you honestly expected to do them?

We had a meeting the other day and there basicly telling us anything put back on the ips frame could be classed as wilfull delay.

We had a big warning a few weeks back that every bit of mail brought back must be stickered with a no access label and all mis-sorts to be left on the lino's desk. No more scribbling on them "under Enquiry" or just stickering the front one and banding them if it is a flat with multiple doors when you can't get in. I came back with well over a hundred letters one day and nobody would authorise the overtime for me to sticker them so I left the lot and nothing was said!

How is it though we on delivery get in trouble for the odd missort yet every day in my office we get trays of mail sent in from our mail centre for different offices. These trays get sent back on last mech lorry so obviously must fail to be delivered until the following day.Nothing seems to get done about it though.

If it's a miss-sort and you've not prepped the duty how do you know it's not a re-direction.and isn't that a big source of complaints for Royal Mail.

if the manager is making stupid threats like that then simply play him at his own game, if people are willing to claim overtime anyway then an extra 30 minutes driving round posting back a couple of letters is money in their pocket, his ot will soon go through the roof, if they are only willing to do a set amount of over time then approach manager and ask him exactly what he wants done with any mail left after that time, follow the cutting off procedure to the letter, then it doesnt matter whether its misorts or a bundle as he will either authorise you to claim ot till its finished completely or be fully aware that mail was coming back at a certain time,

What's the compensation amount these days for delivering an item of mail that should have been redirected?

Any missorted item would not have been in the frame slot checked against a redirection. Can you be 100% sure of all your redirections, including ones where it is not all of a family? I know I cannot, they come back endorsed!

how many mis sorts are you bringing back anyway ? surely it isnt such a significant number that they could question your prepping skills ?

the issue is not really the number being brought back, its the fact there one or more, as if manager is doing his job properly he has to report it on the DODR (daily office daily report) so as soon as he says even 1 he has flagged up that his office did not complete that day

Worth also noting inaccessibles also need to go into the DODR (thats even worse for dom) so for that he needs to put in part walk failures for each walk that has any and that may show up multiple walk failures in his office, the reason both these issues are now becoming more and more common, is that previously most managers claimed they had a clear office when in fact there was in fact a dozen or so letters, with increasing audits they are now having to tell the truth and facing difficult questions on why they had clear offices for years and now suddenly they are not with multiple walk failures

how do parcels figure in to this ? some people are told to prioritize letters and bring back parcels if they run out of time

Even one letter not redirected means they get their money back. A costly mistake.

exact same, also you are not allowed to prioritise any type of mail, so you deliver everything from A to R then cut off bringing everything from S to Z back, in fact the union hq have asked that any such requests to whats call stream mail is reported to them as they are specifically forbidded

"missort" or "m/s". Or.. I just don't bother endorsing. I don't have time and nobody ever checks. Nobody is interested, if they were they would look into the problem.

Most of mine are close by, mixed in with next doors, or next door but ones. I check the name and if there is another identical, then I can assume no redirection is in place and I may post it.

I'm pig sick of them to be honest, and don't understand how I get so many of the same ones. For example, every single day there is one letter for 'Big House' mixed in with letters for '1 Big Terrace'. It's got to be deliberate. Any letter that has the house number or name missing is put in a random slot somewhere nearby.

I can understand going back to an address with the mis-sort when you have a van, but surely you can't be expected to deliver a mis-sort on a hct round?
