Part time overtime advice please.

Post by polar bear »

Hi
I'm on a 30 hr contract and start at 8:00. I've been asked to start at 6:00 for Xmas to help out. By my calculations that's 2hours a day extra but my manager is only paying me 1hour 48 mins. I take it he is basing this on a 37.5 hour week. Yet I thought the full time staff were on a 40 hour week?
Any advice would be very welcome

Easy, just start at 6.12am.

If you're wanted to start 2hrs earlier they should be paying you for 2hrs

We are on 7:48 days ( no longs and shorts ) so 39 hrs a week.

If I remember correctly after the last agreement (2010 ?) the working week was reduced by an hour, but no reduction in weekly pay.

best advice ask him why you are only getting paid the 1hr48, it should be 2 hours extra pay, he may just be making a mistake and thinking that you are now working same as ft staff which start at 6 and work a 7hr48 min day, and forgetting to tell you that your finish time will be 12 minutes less

also now your working a full day dont forget your entitled to a full 40 minute break now, not just 30 minutes
