Full time rounds being made part time?

Two senior posties left our office last year but DoMs not advertising their duties. Union rep is fighting a plan to make these two rounds part time, surely the protection of full time duties was one of the only good things that came out of the whole revision agreement shambles? Whats the current situation on eroding full time duties around the Royal Mail world?

Same in our office. The ips time they have lost with them going part time will probably be filled by asking the part timer if they want to come in an hr early to sort. Lol.

What on earth do you mean "you can't stop it now as its private" an agreement is an agreement private or not! Jeeeez

Looks like there setting everything up for only part time staff for when the new sorting machines come in, what the union must insist if this is the plan is that the part time staff take home a decent living wage.
I have my doubts, think this job will be only for those who want a part time job.

There is a National Agreement called the Filling of Vacancies sometimes known as the Stoke Agreement , when there is a vacancy whether that is a full time or part time duty than a discussion will take place between the DOM and Local Rep over whether this should be filled by a full time duty or a part time and it should be based on workload , effiecncy and quality.

The Agenda For Growth says that a Full time person cannot be made part time . It does not say a vacant full time duty cannot be made part time if the indoor has reduced due to say traffic decrease indoors !

If your rep and your office think the vacancy should remain full time than he or she can signal a stage 1 disagreement which would then be heard by the DSM and Area Rep

It's almost impossible for a rep to make a case to keep a duty full-time using the agreed tools given the reduction in indoor workload, the only exception would be if an office was already carrying vacancies or had originally opted for a very low model traffic week and consistently flexed up. The stoke agreement is virtually useless now other than the fact that it commits management to a discussion.

I know it can be difficult, but certainly in London over the last couple of months we have made up a significant number and are still discussing others. Some areas have seen whistl return but not all of London had it. Of course London has not used the tools as we agreed to use WIPWH ( weighted items per work hour ) which we said any office who are hitting their targeted WIPWH should recruit like for like i.e. full time to full time which then given the most senior part timer the opportunity. However we have also made up several who have been working above their contracted hours for over 6 months in line with the Agenda for Growth Agreement.
