What is RM's take on using dashcams?

Seen other drivers use their own personal dash cams before, obviously a good idea if it proves you're not at fault, but is there any official RM guidance as it'd be classed as recording equipment?

Definitely would not be allowed as data protection act would come into play as in a company vehicle so personal ones are a definite no no, as for whether the company should/would go down the route it is really all down to cost, would they save the company more money that they would cost to implement? Possibly yes but the size of the fleet would mean it would be over a million pound investment and how long would that take to pay off is probably what will rule it
